Marketing Assistant - Nature Research

Marketing Assistant
London or New York
The Marketing Assistant is responsible for supporting the Nature Research Open Access Marketing Team with the implementation of tactical marketing activities to promote the entire portfolio. The Marketing Assistant must be extremely well organized, with a keen eye for detail and the flexibility to work on different tasks. Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Marketing Assistant will implement print and online marketing campaigns and provide support to the team. It is a varied, fast-paced position that requires juggling multiple tasks and priorities on a daily basis.
Responsibilities and main duties:
• Support the Nature Research OA Marketing team with implementation of a range of online and offline marketing communications to:
◦ generate submissions
◦ drive online usage and readership
◦ promote content
• To assist the Nature Research OA Marketing team with the implementation of digital and offline marketing activities, including emails, banner ads, electronic Table of Contents (eTOC) alerts, print ads, conference collateral
• To manage the booking and uploading of monthly eTOC campaigns
• To demonstrate flair of creativity in creating marketing material for journals as necessary and promotional copy/material to fulfill the marketing channels (email, eTOC, banners, print ads, flyers, etc.)
• To assist in the coordination and distribution of marketing collateral to relevant conferences and partner events, working closely with the ORG Conference & Events team
• To assist in the booking and managing of the various Nature Research OA Marketing team's social media program and marketing campaigns
• To systematically manage the updates of the Nature Research microsites and other nature.com pages as necessary
• To assist the Marketing team with copy, proofreading in a variety of formats, checking for consistency and adherence to the company style and brand guidelines
• To support the Marketing team with ad hoc projects and support internal needs as and when required, demonstrating a high level of flexibility with the team
• Compiling a variety of reports on a monthly basis and providing accurate information to feed in to written reports
Qualifications:
• University degree, preferably in science or business / marketing or a similar qualification
Essential skills:
• Educated to degree level, or equivalent
• Professional experience in an office environment
• Highly computer literate - understands common software (e.g. Microsoft Office suite) and gains new software skills quickly
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Proven ability to prioritize tasks and work well under pressure
• Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills
• A proactive team player
• Keen interest in publishing and/or marketing
Desirable skills:
• Knowledge of marketing and/or publishing
• Experience in STM publishing and/or open access
• Familiarity with various digital marketing systems including Google Analytics/CMS/Emal/CRM
