Haymarket Media, Inc. is seeking a Special Projects Editor to join the Haymarket Medical Network. This position is based in our New York, NY office.
Job Overview:
The Haymarket Special Projects Editor is responsible for the digital publication of specialized clinical content across all clinical areas. S/he will oversee the creation, production, and curation of expert perspectives, clinical cases, slideshows, and quizzes, across the entire Haymarket Medical Network (cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, infectious diseases, hematology/oncology, neurology, psychiatry, pulmonology, and rheumatology). Tasks will also include the generation of sponsored full-length feature articles. These products will be distributed as text or video content via online, mobile, and social media channels, with a goal of providing high-quality content that meets the informational needs of Haymarket Medical network's professional audience of healthcare practitioners.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Ensuring the execution of clinical content categorized as a "special project" outside of the daily news and feature content published on the Haymarket Medical Network sites
• Managing assignments to freelancers, including adhering to budget(s) and timeline(s)
• Posting articles to CMS (including tagging and identification of graphic accompaniment)
• Working with brand editor to ensure inclusion of special project content into daily email newsletters and maintaining monthly e-newsletter schedules, including testing and review of ad content
• Writing, editing, and fact-checking duties, including formatting, ensuring reference accuracy, and collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to schedule workflow to meet timelines and priorities
• Maintaining editorial calendar and adhering to production schedules
• Managing Special Projects' budgets/invoices/expenses
Skills and Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in English/Journalist.Communications with a strong background in the biological sciences or a Bachelor's degree in science with strong editing skills preferred
• Minimum 2+ years' experience in medical education/communication/advertising, with demonstrated skill in writing, editing, and working with content management systems
• Excellent ability to edit and fact check medical, technical, and marketing materials, and quick at execution
• Excellent reading comprehension, listening, and analytical skills, and oral and written communication skills
• Successful record of handling multiple simultaneous projects and deadlines
• Experience as a strong team player who can work cross-functionally within an organization and follow through on assigned tasks
• Working knowledge of HTML
• Knowledge of SEO best practices, social media, and other digital promotional strategies
• Understanding of the needs of medical professional audiences, or demonstrated ability to identify the needs of a highly specialized audience
