Overview
The Harper Business and Harper Wave imprints of HarperCollins are seeking a Marketing Assistant. This position will support marketing efforts across two high-profile nonfiction lists and provide administrative support to the VP of Marketing and the Associate Director of Marketing.
Responsibilities
• Coordinate material for marketing meetings, in-house planning and pre-sales meetings, and sales conferences.
• Manage various database systems and inputting/updating of information.
• Request and compile galley quantities and submit order forms.
• Process and submit invoices.
• Manage all title-specific mailings direct to booksellers and influencers.
• Work with outside author teams to support promotional efforts via author platforms.
• Provide support on marketing campaigns as directed.
• Take the lead on all paperback marketing efforts across the two lists, working closely with the paperback marketing team at Harper Perennial and Harper Paperbacks.
• Write marketing letters, newsletters, blog pitches, and other material as needed.
• Coordinate with HarperCollins Ad/Promo department to create flyers, ads, e-cards, and social media assets.
• Contribute to Harper Wave and Harper Business brand presences and promotion on social media platforms.
• Request seasonal print back ads and facilitate front- and back-matter updates on e-books.
• Track key-title sales data and compile weekly for sharing with authors and agents.
• Perform administrative duties as necessary.
Qualifications
• 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience
• Prior office experience required
• Ability to work effectively with all levels of management
• Ability to set priorities while under pressure
• Excellent written and oral communication and multi-tasking skills
• Excellent organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
• Well versed in social media platforms for marketing purposes
• Experience with Photoshop or similar digital-image software preferred
• Experience with web sites, HTML, and/or other forms of code or content markup preferred
• Interest in or knowledge of health, wellness, food, lifestyle, business, and personal finance topics
• Interest in or experience with prescriptive nonfiction
• Must love books!
