Digital Content Operations Manager
The Digital Content Operations Manager will oversee daily operations of key digital systems and products. The manager’s core responsibility is to ensure the successful execution of company-wide digital initiatives by providing structure and process to make the digital operation more efficient and performant. The manager will ensure that policies and procedures are in place, documented, and being adhered to in support of business goals. The manager will be responsible for developing best practices and policies for digital execution, overseeing compliance, and driving superior results. The role will act as the liaison between digital product, editorial, and strategic marketing services teams.
The Digital Content Operations Manager’s role is cross-functional, working closely with Hanley Wood Media’s editorial, strategic marketing services, development, ad ops and design teams to understand overall digital, product, and revenue goals and translate them into actionable processes and tactical plans. The position is an integral part of the digital product team and reports to the VP, Digital Strategy and Operations.
Specific duties and responsibilities may include:
• Act as the subject matter expert for Brightspot CMS, developing best practices and user workflow processes that impact day-to-day digital operations and overseeing adherence to guidelines for key digital initiatives, including content tagging and SEO
• Manage digital operations and systems to a high degree of excellence through development of policies, training and documentation for system and product use, technical requirements, bug reports, and creation of launch timelines for key initiatives or features
• Serve as cross-team liaison for specific strategic digital projects to ensure optimal performance and leveraging of full suite of CMS or product capabilities
• Drive excellence throughout the organization, offering opinions on program execution, feature and bug prioritization, streamlined processes and workflow improvement of digital team, particularly where it benefits overall profitability and efficiency
• Strive to develop an overall project view with an eye on critical priorities to help move projects along and mitigate issues whenever appropriate
• Lead regular check-ins with editorial and marketing services content teams to answer key product questions and reinforce CMS guidelines and business requirements, particularly around SEO, content tagging, and promotional efforts
• Achieve deep knowledge of business drivers (revenue, database growth, and engagement), with ability to make in-the-moment recommendations based on this background knowledge
• Work closely with the Director, Product Development to design processes for successful completion of projects, including quality assurance testing, roll-out to key stakeholders and user groups through training sessions and written documentation, post-launch analysis of adoption and impact, and maintenance of KPI dashboards
• Communicate updates on ongoing projects, outstanding questions/requests, and raise red flags that could impact the digital team or priorities. Identify issues, manage stakeholder expectations, and offer recommendations for creative solutions or workarounds based on knowledge of priorities, development roadmap, and contributing factors.
• Stay up-to-date on digital trends and offer ideas around key business problems/opportunities
Qualifications
• 5+ years relevant digital technology experience, preferably in digital media or editorial systems and workflow
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work across cross-functional teams
• Superior attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple projects and shifting priorities
• Goal-oriented and displays grace under pressure
• Proficient in digital metrics and analysis
• Working knowledge of SEO preferred
• Brightspot experience preferred
• Bachelor’s degree required
