Description
The Overnight Ranger/EMT will support the 20 duty managers, Health Services supervisor and Area Lead EMT with overnight security duties, managing workers compensation claims/light duty work, scanning/filing paperwork, and other duties as assigned. 90% of this position is security work with 10% of the position dedicated to patient care. This position requires accurate, detailed documentation and report writing. This position also involves dealing directly with the public and insuring that all LLCR security/medical staff provides the best customer service and security/medical care possible.
Scope and Responsibilities:
1. Performs overnight security functions and directly reports to overnight 20 duty managers.
2. Complete security patrols of the hotel/hotel pool/Sea life/construction site. (Will mainly be posted in the hotel and first aid station.)
3. Complete monthly fire extinguisher checks.
1. Provide BLS (Basic Life Support) emergency medical care to hotel guests and MCs
1. Operation of medical emergency vehicle to and from emergency and non-emergency scene’s in a manner appropriate to patient condition. Never in an unsafe manner and to keep in mind the safety of self and others.
1. Coordinates patient care, between local transport agencies and LLCR emergency staff.
1. Assist Health Services supervisor and Lead EMT with medical evaluations of after hour work related injuries.
1. Assist the Health Services Supervisor and Lead EMT with conducting follow up exams for after hour work related injuries.
1. Make recommendations for light duty work for injured employees and finding them reasonable accommodations within the hotel or park.
1. Provide proper aftercare treatment instructions to injured employees within an EMT scope of practice.
1. Completes detailed, accurate and legible documentation/reports prior to EOS.
1. Maintains appropriate EMT/CPR certifications.
1. Performs all duties in a safe courteous, confidential and professional manner, always taking into account the well-being of the patient.
1. Assists Health Services supervisor with safety or health related awareness to overnight staff.
1. Park Ranger/EMT’s follow SOP’s and treatment protocols.
1. Properly clean and stock all treatment areas and medical bags/equipment, clean and maintain emergency response vehicle and prepares first aid clinics for daily operation.
1. Assist Area Lead EMT with supply inventory and AED checks.
1. Scans medical files to secure drive and scans light duty work documents to supervisors throughout the park.
1. Communicates with Health services supervisor, 20 duty manager, overnight hotel supervisor and patient’s direct supervisor about new injuries and patient progress.
1. Other security/administrative duties as assigned.
Background and Experience:
PSO certification desirable but not require. If hired, must be able to obtain certification within 6 months of hire date.
Security experience desirable but not required.
Requires a minimum of (1) years of BLS experience in the field or clinical environment
Clinical experience is highly desirable
Computer proficiency with ability to use Microsoft Office Products is required
Requires excellent verbal and written communication and reasoning skills
Education:
High School or General Education Diploma (GED) is required. Must be a graduate of a State accredited or recognized EMT/Paramedic program and possess a current California and San Diego County certifications, in good standing. Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) provider is preferred.
Other Requirements:
Must be willing to work Thursday-Sunday 9pm-5:30am.
Must be able to work holidays as needed.
Must have one day of daytime availability during the peak season June-August.
Must have valid driver’s license, safe driving record, and be willing to utilize own vehicle for business purposes.
Experience working with Children is desirable.
