Job Description
KGW Media Group in Portland, Oregon is seeking a cutting-edge Executive Producer of Content to help lead a team of talented Journalists. KGW is a ratings leader in the Portland market and has been named the 2016 Television Station of the Year by the Oregon Association of Broadcasters (OAB). To be successful at KGW, you must also have: a strong understanding and demonstrated proficiency in TV newscast production; a deep understanding of how to connect content to audiences; the ability to work collaboratively with teams in the creative process of brainstorming, developing, launching and sustaining quality programs; a passion and appreciation of all genres of television -- news, dramas, comedies, reality and entertainment; and proficiency in using social media. Responsibilities:
• Oversees our multi-platform news coverage for assigned newscasts
• Manages a quality staff of reporters, producers, photographers, and the assignment desk
• Plans and coordinates live event coverage, breaking news, studio and HD production
• Engages the audience through social media and creates synergy through cross promotion from our website, the early news, and noon news
• Works closely with news management and marketing to promote the newscasts
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
• A Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Film, Fine Arts or equivalent
• Prior experience as an Executive Producer
• Strong leadership, writing and organizational skills
• An understanding of audience flow and meter strategy is needed
• Desktop video editing and graphics production skills using server-based digital video systems are required
• Demonstrated proficiency in using social media for news gathering, crowd sourcing, and interaction with viewers and sources
• Knowledge of Portland and Oregon is helpful in this position but not required
