Job Summary
The supervisor plans and coordinates all construction-related activities and special projects, ensuring that all installations comply with company standards as well as federal, state, and local laws and ordinances, and supervises the day-to-day construction, activation and maintenance performed by construction technicians and contractors.
Responsibilities
• Plan and oversee construction related projects of varying scope and complexity: Government buildings, residential developments, schools, multiple dwelling units, commercial buildings, etc.
• Oversee Wi-Fi and cellular tower deployment projects: site surveys, design, installation, testing
• Maintain project plans and relevant databases; ensure communication channels remain open
• Manage related financial requirements such as project cost analysis, budgeting, and material orders
• Coordinate fiber optic construction project, node splits, point-to-point, Fiber to the Home, fiber deep upgrades, etc.
• Interface with municipal agencies, public schools, utility operators, etc. to ensure pole-lease compliance and rights-of-way
• Ensure all employees and contractors follow all applicable safety standards and best practices
• Facilitate third-party damage claim investigations and reporting
• Meet or exceed all applicable key performance indicators and service level agreement requirements
Essential Functions
• Provide supervision to and management of technicians, support employee development and performance while enforcing company employment and safety policies
• Assess, prioritize, and alter work assignments as required meet operational needs
• Assign project related tasks to technicians and contract labor based on the availability of specific skills, training, and/or experience.
Qualifications / Requirements
• Minimum of five (5) years of related telecommunications experience; preferably construction oriented
• Proficiency with constructions practices (utility and civil construction) with an understanding of applicable federal, state, and local laws and ordinances
• Adept at motivating others, assessing difficult situations and providing value-added solutions to move the business forward
• Possess at time of hire a valid Class B or greater commercial driver’s license, where applicable
Preferred Experience
• Proven record of success in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, making decisions under pressure
• Familiarity with agency rules, guidelines, and requirements including but not limited to: OSHA, NESC, NEC, SCTE, BOCA, AREMA, FCC
• Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) proficiency preferred in some locations
Working Conditions
• Various conditions ranging from office environment to prolonged exposure to the environment. Exposure may include inclement weather. Exposure to active construction sites and associated risks. Position will require frequent standing, stooping, lifting, bending, kneeling, and climbing ladders. May also operate hydraulic lift bucket trucks and work at heights.
