The Dallas Morning News currently has an opening for a Product Manager in our Digital Marketing department. The Product Manager is responsible for management of the vision, strategy, and execution of The Dallas Morning News’ digital extensions: such as mobile and voice assistant apps, e-paper / replica edition, or other technologies that extend digital operational capabilities.
This role will manage task assignment and delivery of new product initiatives, drive high quality consumer experience on a per channel and product basis, and will act as a key point of contact for multiple internal and external parties. The Product Manager will work closely with newsroom partners to evangelize product growth and improvement while utilizing the best practices found in other industry and non-industry digital subscription service leaders.
• Work closely with the Newsroom to champion initiatives related to development of our Content Management System (CMS) inclusive of training and documentation, identification of bug fixes, and establish processes for changes that minimize impact to newsroom workflow.
• Work closely with Newsroom to prioritize digital product feature and functionality change requests
• Continually improve UX and manage a team member responsible for evangelizing QA and establishing automated processes to improve quality.
• Manage initiatives related to our replica/E-paper distribution, Voice Assistant Content Distribution, Mobile Apps, and work with Newsroom and Development team on new product initiatives and product line extensions as they arise
• Manage and optimize processes to ensure product development is completed in a manner that optimizes both efficiency and quality
• Develop and guide policies that ensure consistent and high quality products that meet the needs of our consumers by content vertical or utility type
• Proactively provide optimization recommendations for digital properties inclusive of internal site search improvements, user experience optimization such as load time and processing improvements, and managing an individual focused on external search optimization improvements
• Plan a route for digital content distribution to other platforms, channels, products, etc.
• Think strategically to bolster products (i.e. websites, mobile apps, etc.) that can aid our digital channel growth
• Work closely with Sales, Newsroom, and Development teams to establish and maintain product requirements
• Support a product strategy that supports business objectives and is crafted to deliver a high-quality customer experience, honing methods that work for the brand/product (continuous evolvement of strategy is a must)
• Gather data, perform analysis and make recommendations based on those results
• Identify, negotiate and manage partnerships with external vendors (e.g. PageSuite, MindSea, Rivet, LifeBlue, etc.) as required and add/evolve technologies that improve conversion opportunity and user experience.
• Ability to manage 1-2 direct reports at inception with experience managing external vendors, contractors, and matrix manage project teams is a key element of this role.
