STAPLES Center’s sixteen years have also been marked with performances and special events that brought international stature to the downtown Los Angeles venue including concerts Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Prince U2, Paul McCartney, Garth Brooks, Usher, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Keith Urban, Roger Waters, Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran, Kendrick Lamar, Sade and Justin Timberlake, as well as world championship boxing, family shows and special events. Hosting over 250 events a year, the arena’s reputation for world-class amenities, features and commitment to quality of service and the guest experience is second to none. Staples, Inc. entered into a 20-year agreement to become the arena’s Naming Rights Partner December 1, 1998, which has since been extended into perpetuity.
Under the general direction of the Senior Director of Operations, the Operations Manager will oversee all back of house operations on the overnight shift as it relates to facility services, conversions, housekeeping, and loading dock during events as well as non-event and post event times. The individual in this role will provide operational expertise and management of a 19,000+ seat, multi-purpose sports and entertainment facility along with enforcing union and labor regulations and contract compliance.

Essential Duties:
• Direct Supervision of the Overnight Staff including the 3rd party contractors and ensure contractual agreements are met.
• Work closely with the conversion Manager of the building on a nightly bases including double headers and special projects
• Create and implement policies and procedures regarding facility operations with a focus on the efficiency and safety of operations.
• Conduct ongoing reviews of Operations’ budgeting and staffing plans. Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate personnel and service providers.
• Hold weekly meetings to establish and maintain effective working relationships with VP’s, Managers, Supervisors, Team Members, patrons, clients, city departments, service providers and corporate sponsors.
• Conduct Safety meetings and maintain safety logs to ensure safe practices and compliance are met.
• Develop Standard Operating Procedures for operational functions of the facility including conversions, maintenance, housekeeping, and loading dock logistics.
• Conduct/maintain inventory of equipment used in overnight operations.
• Other needed duties, which may be of a physical nature, such as removing/moving/lifting conversion and event equipment, etc.
Required Qualifications (Job Knowledge, Skills, and Education):
• A minimum education level of: High School Diploma or its equivalency (BA/BS Degree Preferred)
• A minimum of 3-5 years of related work experience
• Prior supervisory and leadership experience required
• Knowledge and previous work experience with NBA, NHL, live events or other family shows
• Knowledge and previous work experience in Venues and/or facilities
• Knowledge of Housekeeping responsibilities
• Excellent written and verbal skills, organizational skills
• Must be computer literate, with knowledge in Word, Excel and Outlook
• Knowledge of safety practices and all applicable safety standards for public facilities.
• Capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic, every changing environment.
• Ability to lift 25 pounds
• Ability to work Overnights, weekends, holidays as needed
Preferred Qualifications (if applicable):
• Forklift certified or ability to abtain forklift certification
• Working knowledge of trades (electrical, plumbing, engineering, HVAC, construction)
