JOB DESCRIPTION
true[X] is a digital ad-tech company that powers engagement advertising for some of the world’s top brands. We are building the next generation of attention-based video ad products and capabilities, to advantage quality, and support the premium video ecosystem.
Our engagement advertising platform is upending the world of online advertising by providing a unit that captures viewers’ full attention and guarantees interaction. By doing so, this advertising unit combats fraudulent impressions and, in turn, allows publishers to charge higher CPMs to support their premium content, while improving the user experience by reducing the number of ads.
We are looking for an energetic, creative, business-minded individual to help us continue to change the advertising industry.
true[X]’s Business Development team initiates, leads, and manages our ongoing relationships with all of our premium publisher clients, which include the major broadcasters, cable networks and distributors, as well as other digital-first premium publishers.
The Business Development team works directly with publisher partners to build relationships across levels and functions (sales, product, tech, research) in order to: negotiate business terms around utilization of true[X] products and capabilities; manage ongoing partnership operations; ensure publisher sales teams are enabled and educated about how to sell our engagement solution directly; and to communicate updates with regard to the true[X] roadmap and/or best practices for leveraging our products and capabilities.
This role is an outstanding opportunity to build and manage key partner relationships with the goal of shaping the future of premium video advertising.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the East coast Business Development practice, in order to strategically grow the true[X] partner network and the awareness, impact and influence of true[X] across premium video publishers, as well as other key verticals (print, digital-first publishers and services, etc.)
• Increase true[X] access to publisher inventory.
• Increase the visibility and importance of true[X] products & capabilities within our existing cable & broadcast publisher partners.
• Break new ground and forge new relationships with non-true[X] cable and premium long from video partners.
• Establish the true[X] product & service suite as a core component of cable & broadcast publishers’ digital & OTT strategy.
• Sell-in new true[X] products & platforms to our expansive list of east coast-based clients.
• Liaise with multiple teams across the true[X] org, including Sales, Ad Ops, Research, Engineering & Product to help inform the company’s strategic direction based on client feedback & intelligence.
• Liaise with multiple teams and functions within partner organizations, and help build bridges between them and their true[X] counterparts.
• Work with our Marketing team to arrange conferences, events, editorial content and promotions to deepen relationships with existing publisher clients and target new clients.
• Educate & train clients on best practices and market insights.
• Manage the career development and progression of NY based Manager, Business Development. Potentially grow and scale the NY team over time.
Desired Skills and Experience
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required. MBA preferred but not essential.
• 5+ years of experience within the Advertising industry. Specific experience within cable, broadcast, or other long-form video (or a company serving these industries) preferred but not essential.
• Prior experience managing others, as well as working with premium digital content partners.
• Working knowledge of digital advertising business practices and technology (ad servers, tags and ad exchanges) as well as familiarity with the FreeWheel ad suite and Google DFP.
• Deep experience and demonstrated success managing Business Development and/or Sales contract negotiations.
• Extremely strong written and verbal communication skills required, as well as comfort & experience presenting complex products & services in public settings.

• Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining strict attention to details and deadlines.
• Ability to communicate, collaborate and work effectively as part of a fast-paced and highly intelligent team.
Professional Qualities
• A team-player who wants to win and be part of a winning team.
• Takes ownership and accountability seriously. Highly organized. Able to self-manage and deliver on multiple fronts at once.
• Inspirational: able to inspire and lead partners and colleagues of all levels and functions to inspire and lead an industry.
• A natural problem-solver, eager and adept at finding solutions to problems big and small.
