The goals of the Marketing Insights and Data Strategy team are to evangelize and create a strategic analytics and data driven culture within both the newly formed Research Marketing Group’s and Nature Research Group’s Commercial Marketing teams. It is responsible for establishing the Vision, Strategy and Tactics necessary for the successful delivery of analytics, useful data insights and measurable positive change into the group. The Digital Marketing Analyst will help support all Sales and Marketing initiatives by providing analytics, reporting and insights. This team works closely with marketers, sales teams, product management, digital advertising operations and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities
• Monitor and track metrics/KPIs for Commercial and Marketing products
• Create user-friendly dashboards that combine key metrics from multiple data sources for sales, marketing and other stake holders as necessary
• Analyze website traffic, users and activity and campaign effectiveness to make actionable recommendations for future strategic planning; consult on marketing strategy initiatives for customer outreach and commercial campaigns
• Work with large sets of data for various reporting needs
• Assist with research projects on the behavior of consumers, businesses, and authors as it relates to their digital awareness and consumption of Springer Nature’s publications
• Analyze output to ensure error free data is supplied to ensure efficient provision of data/output is provided
Experience, skills and qualifications
Essential
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, information systems, business, statistics, or similar discipline
• 1-2 years’ experience working with marketing and sales data and/or relevant internship at a media, publishing, or marketing company
• Clear written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
• Impeccable attention to detail
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel(pivot tables, charts, vlookup, sumifs), Word and PowerPoint
• Use of web analytics applications (Google Analytics, Webtrends, Omniture, Coremetrics etc.)
• Basic SQL skills (querying, performance optimisation, stored procedures & views)
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups or work independently
• Flexible individual who is willing to learn and contribute immediately
• Self-motivated, curious, and reliable problem solver
Preferred, but not required experience includes:
• Experience with data tools for building, connecting, and visualizing multiple data sources. This includes, but is not limited to:
◦ Google Analytics Suite (Analytics, Tag Manager, Data Studio)
◦ Ensighten
◦ MS SQL Server, MySQL, Big Query, or similar DBMS
◦ Tableau
◦ Adobe Photoshop
◦ Third party research platforms, such as comScore or GfK/MRI
• Exposure to programming languages (ideally Python), and basic statistical techniques a plus
• Knowledge and exposure of web related concepts such as Search Engine Optimization, Social Media platforms and technology in general.
