Organization Overview:
Access Planning at CenturyLink is a forward-looking, proactive business management domain that maintains control and manages intrinsic risk associated with a multi-billion-dollar annual Network Expense (NetEx) liability. The principle goal of the Access Planning team is to maintain an efficient network that enables revenue while maximizing profit margin and cash flow. Access Planning utilizes an array of techniques to deliver on this goal.
The Optimization Operations arm of the Access Planning team executes on strategy provided by the Network Planning and Access Management (NPAM) leadership team to deliver on CenturyLink NetEx, capital and operating expense, and revenue enablement objectives. This scope includes physical and contractual optimization of NetEx monthly reoccurring cost, off-net vendor aggregation facility capacity management, general ledger expense and budget management, market health assessments and management plans, physical optimization of off-net services in support of non-NetEx business drivers, and resolution of capacity and routing constraints to enable revenue
Job Description
• Research components of end to end network consumed by a telecom circuit
• Understand the purpose of network elements like a Router / Switch to deliver a service to a customer
• Evaluate network consumption and inter-connection options with other telecom providers to decide migration plans
• Perform financial analysis to determine the cost impact of changing the path of a telecom circuit
• Engage with stakeholders and customers to ensure circuit migration plan meets the expected timeline
• Organize data and provide weekly reports on progress and program health
• Opportunity to build an understanding of the underlying technologies and products like SONET, IP, Entrance Facility Aggregation, MPLS, VPN, DIA, Waves
Qualifications
• Basic Qualifications
• Actively enrolled in a accredited college program related to internship requirements.
• Available to work at least 10 hours during the Fall and Spring semesters.
• Available to work 40 hours during the Summer.
