The Sr. Director, Product Management will be expected to grow the value and utility of a product portfolio in a dynamic, fast-moving marketplace, with success measured by product-specific KPIs. This role will take end-to-end ownership of a product portfolio, collaborating with various teams, including product development, project management, design, operations, editorial, revenue, business development and customer service. This role must successfully deliver results in an important space and is responsible for assembling and cultivating a strong team of product managers to execute on overall product vision.
Responsibilities:
• Oversight and coordination of the strategic vision for multiple product portfolios, including conceptualization, ideation, opportunity assessment, dependency knowledge and prioritization. Provide higher-level perspective on product lifecycle, informed by continuing knowledge of evolving industry trends and innovation, and understanding of business goals.
• Oversee multiple product processes- including maintaining a living roadmaps, implementing tests, developing of iterative product requirements and KPIs, defining needed resources and fully deploy the products across the USA TODAY NETWORK and other distribution channels.
• Analyze product performance metrics in partnership with internal stakeholders and use this data to improve existing products and identify new product opportunities.
• Manage relationships with business owners and other internal stakeholders.
• Develop and enhance methods to capture and utilize customer and audience needs, wants and desires to inform the product development process.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine requirements, resolve conflicts, and remove impediments for development teams.
• Lead a team of Agile product owners who will manage day-to-day interactions with the development team to define user stories and acceptance criteria, groom backlogs, prioritize features, conduct user acceptance testing, and evaluate product performance.
• Manage individual product managers, establish goals relevant to roles and provide direct constructive performance reviews to build skills and expertise.
• Manage engagements with third-party partners and consultancies in support of selected projects; represent Product in discussions with vendors and other stakeholders.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree. MBA and/or other advanced training preferred.
• 10+ years’ experience developing and managing consumer products.
• 5+years' people management experience.
• Ability to think critically and constructively about complex business problems, clearly communicate analyses, and present solutions that address business needs.
• Experience directing and managing a team, and leading cross-functional teams in a matrixed reporting structure.
• Curious and open minded, with a knack for synthesizing and prioritizing stakeholder requests.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
