Position Summary:Support the overall vision, mission and mandates for the company.This individual will work directly with the CEO and senior management to design and implement Participant’s long-range strategic plan, which will set the trajectory of the company’s growth for the next several years.
The SVP, Strategy & Business Development, working closely with the CEO, CFO and General Counsel will play a critical role in the creation of the overall strategy and its implementation. They will help identify, assess, pursue, and execute opportunities including partnerships, joint ventures, investments and other business development prospects, across film, television and digital media and in both domestic and international markets and in furtherance of the company’s dual bottom line. Will work across the leadership team to help manage and execute on key projects and priorities, and to optimize business and management processes.

Responsibilities
◦ Identify and analyze growth strategy and new business development opportunities for Participant Media and it digital subsidiary, Soul Pancake, in furtherance of the Company’s mission.
◦ Working collaboratively with colleagues in senior leadership to define and advance key cross-company initiatives, including overseeing both high-level strategic thinking and implementation of priority projects alongside functional teams.
◦ Drive evaluation, articulation and presentation of Participant’s key strategic initiatives for senior management and Board of Directors.
◦ Assist in due diligence efforts and analysis for potential corporate development opportunities, including M&A and strategic partnerships.
◦ Analyze industry trends, competitive landscape, growth opportunities and internal performance, including assisting with the development of a framework for measuring the company’s social impact.
◦ Thought partner to the CEO and senior leadership on business challenges, directing efforts to align with constantly evolving priorities and industry trends.
◦ Monitor progress of key initiatives and ensure that company commitments and priorities are being executed.
◦ Frame decisions for the CEO with well-researched and compelling analytics, critical thinking, and strategic recommendations.
◦ Conduct industry research and build models to evaluate various business scenarios or strategies.
◦ Develop presentations on behalf of the CEO to key constituents such as Board members, investors, employees and partners.
◦ Facilitate effective use of functional meetings such as executive committee meetings, all hand meetings, and offsites.
◦ Act as a “trusted counsel” to executives, providing insights and analyses on the organization’s operations, key decisions and other business areas.
◦ Work effectively in a team environment, both within the executive team and with business unit partners/stakeholders; facilitate cross-departmental collaboration in furtherance of the Company’s strategic goals.
◦ Execute special projects on behalf of business units, including film, TV, digital and social impact teams.
◦ Effectively manage and provide leadership, training, and best practices approach to the Strategy and Business Development team.
◦ Develop team goals and objectives that are fully aligned with the Company’s goals.
◦ Other duties / special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
◦ B.A. and M.B.A. required with strong academic performance.
◦ 4 - 5 years of experience, post degree, at a leading management consulting firms and/or top-tier strategic planning / corporate strategy departments.
◦ Superior analytical skills and financial modeling capabilities.
◦ Experience in the media, digital and/or tech industries. Digital is a requirement.
◦ Strong executive-level presentation skills.
◦ Demonstrable success in delivering results in a cross-functional team setting.
◦ Proven interest in social impact (e.g., non-profits, international development, and social entrepreneurship). Demonstrable industry knowledge a plus.
◦ Direct experience in long term strategic planning and execution thereof.
◦ Significant interest in cross-department strategic planning and cross-company business development.
