The Role:
We need a self-starting, efficient, positive, empathetic, professional, and highly organized individual to develop and manage the Beta (aka field trials) programs for a variety of pre-market-ready TiVo products, including software, hardware, OTT applications, mobile and web apps,and peripherals to verify features and functionality in in-home environments as part of TiVo’s product development and release process. You will be responsible for managing beta programs for our retail customers, our domestic cable operators, and international partners. The position involves extensive customer (internal and external) contact, collaboration with multiple functional groups across the company and within our partners/operators’ organizations, and has considerable impact and influence on TiVo’s product strategy.
Here's what you'll get to do:
• Based on product features, project/product goals, requirements, and schedules, develop an overall field trials strategy and create a comprehensive test plan for internal employee and external customer home testing including a week-by-week schedule of directed testing, user experience surveys, success metrics, and satisfaction assessments to determine the products’ readiness for launch.
• Recruit from employee (Alpha) and customer (Beta) pool of testers using criteria you develop based on project requirements, and invite individuals to be part of the program.
• Obtain or create documentation and homework assignments (directed and undirected testing instructions) for testers.
• Regularly communicate with testers, providing exceptional support and directives, incentives, and encouragement.
• If working with our domestic operators or international partners, host and conduct regular meetings with counterparts to review testing results, status of issues and bugs filed, tester participation, concerns, suggestions, and collaborate on areas for testing (and adjust plan as needed.)
• Moderate tester forums, issue reports, and communications. Promptly reply to testers, partners, and internal teams.
• Work closely and manage triage engineers assigned to project to ensure effective communication of known issues, major bugs, and prompt escalation of issues found by Alpha and/or Beta testers to Engineering teams.
• Conduct homework meetings with large group of testers.
• Compile and analyze weekly results of testing, and publish survey results and dashboards to core teams, partners, and executives.
• Act as critical member of project core team for decision influence, representing results and concerns, and advocating for fixes and changes based on tester feedback. Keep project team and management apprised of any major issues or concerns to provide guidance for Beta and Release readiness.
• Manage the distribution of hardware and peripherals to testers.
• Work closely with partners on program, training them on use of tools, managing expectations, and establishing and maintaining regular communication.
• Innovate new methodologies and strategies for improving tester participation, enhancing processes, identifying defects, implementing efficiencies, incorporating technology for increasing the effectiveness and value of Beta programs.
What you'll need to be successful:
• BA/BS degree or equivalent combination of college and work experience.
• Technical project and/or program management experience is mandatory with at least 3 years of experience
• Demonstrated ability to keep project and program deliverables on time and on schedule
• Good work ethic with an ability to adjust to constantly shifting schedules and time demands calmly.
• Customer service experience and focus required.
• Exceptional communication skills: written, verbal and listening. This position requires providing clear, thorough instructions and surveys for testers.
• Excellent problem solving, initiative, motivational, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
• Previous training or public speaking experience helpful.
• Proven ability to work well and efficiently independently as well as a member or leader of a team.
• Detail- and process-oriented and highly organized.
• Ability to manage several tasks/projects in a high quality manner simultaneously while staying calm and focused.
• Technically proficient with computer hardware and software, mobile apps and devices, networking protocols, audio and/or video equipment. Should grasp technology easily and be able to learn new information quickly.
• Previous beta testing experience or management of Beta programs helpful.
