POSITION SUMMARY:
The Human Resources Intern will assist with various Human Resources processes and procedures, including Employee Relations, HR Compliance, Learning & Development, Talent Acquisition, Payroll & Benefits, on-boarding and orientation, HRIS, compliance, and various administrative tasks. This internship is designed to be both educational and practical. The HR Intern will have the opportunity to apply education to a professional setting, while gaining valuable experience and skills. In this role, the Intern will learn and apply our processes, and understand industry best practices and trends. He or she will gain a better understanding of the role that Human Resources plays in a business setting and will be better prepared to work in the field of Human Resources in a fast-paced environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures
• Update HR documents and employee handbook
• Maintain confidentiality with business and employee information
• Manage new hire required documents and information
• Ensure compliance with federal and state laws
• Conduct best hiring practices via reference and background checks
• Support the new employee orientation process, including on-boarding and paperwork
• Assist in scheduling of appointments for interviews
• Collect confidential documents from employees and new hires
• Execute other projects and administrative responsibilities as needed
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Currently enrolled in an accredited Human Capital Management, Industrial & Labor Relations, Business Administration, or Business Management Bachelor’s degree program as rising Junior (Class of 2020) or Senior (Class of 2019).
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• A team player with enthusiasm, positive outlook and professional demeanor who takes initiative and direction
• Solid organizational and interpersonal skills with strong attention to detail
• Excellent written, verbal and oral communication skills
• Ability to maintain composure in a fast-paced environment
• Strong Technical Skills: Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• A strong desire to pursue a career in the Human Resources field
