Position Summary: The French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) seeks an experienced candidate for the open position of Human Resources Director. Under the direction of the CFO/Vice President of Finance and Administration, the Human Resources Director is responsible for all FIAF Human Resource activities. This person will be responsible for a warm and congenial staff of around 45 full-time and 100 part-time employees. Responsibilities include talent management, benefits administration, employee relations, performance management, pay administration, and visa applications.
Main Responsibilities:
• Manage all recruiting efforts and hiring processes
• Conduct new employee onboarding program
• Research and analyze cost effective benefit options, compensation practices and other HR
policies and make recommendations to CFO/VP of Finance and Administration.
• Coach, counsel, offer direction and input to managers and employees on company policies and
practices, staffing, employee development, HR processes, performance management, conflict
resolution.
• Serves as liaison between managers/employees and payroll to facilitate resolution of
compensation and benefits related issues.
• Employee development at all levels, including coaching and counseling, facilitation and mentoring.
• Consult with legal counsel as appropriate
• Work with immigration attorney on non-immigrant visas, including H1-B, Q-1, and J-1 visas.
• Manage Reception Desk and personnel
• Liaise with Accounting Department to supervise payroll
• Benefits administration
• Retirement plan administration
• Handle all terminations and COBRA administration
• Knowledge of federal, state and local employee regulations
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business with 3 years’ experience in HR
administration
• Previous experience as an HR Generalist
• PHR or SHRM-CP certification (or equivalent) helpful, but not essential
• Knowledge of immigration visa requirements and processes
• Good working knowledge of benefits administration
• Through understanding of payroll processing
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office: Excel, Word
• Excellent communication and people skills
• Ability to interact with employees at all levels of an organization
• Must demonstrate a strong capacity to work in a team environment
• Interest and knowledge of France and French culture a plus
