We provide advertisers with the ability to reach more than 6.2 million households in the New York DMA using a variety of advanced advertising products, including the ability to place ads on more than 85 cable networks as well as planning and campaign measurement.
Job Summary
The Research Manager is responsible for providing overall research support to the New York Interconnect through extensive knowledge of Nielsen systems, third party processing software and Ad Sales research. The Research Manager is required to lead and manage an Analyst to access and analyze research date from all systems for daily, weekly, quarterly and annual reports and develop materials to assist in overall sales efforts for the company.
Responsibilities
• Manage and ensure the accurate and timely delivery of Nielsen audience estimates, program tracking, ratings one-sheets and overnight alerts/flashes for all sales teams
• Collaborate with the Marketing Department to utilize various quantitative and qualitative research sources to create effective sales collateral
• Provide Sales Managers and Account Executives with regular updates on ad expenditure trends in the market. Utilize all other available data sources to inform Sales of relevant trends both in the New York market and nationally (e.g., Polk automotive data, etc.)
• Act as a primary point of contact for NYI & News Sales managers. Present results of research initiatives to Sales Management and external clients
• Oversee the submission of subscriber data to NCC for quarterly subscriber alignments.
• Act as lead on initiatives to improve departmental efficiencies
• Support VP Research with special projects, acting proactively to provide regular updates
Qualifications / Requirements
• Bachelor’s in Mathematics, Business or related discipline, Graduate degree preferred
• 3 - 5 years of experience in media research, preferably TV
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Experience with Nielsen syndicated software systems such as Arianna and Ad Intel
• Ability to extract sales stories from Nielsen and quantative resources such as Scarborough
• Ability to work independently and resolve problems
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
• Ability to take charge under pressure and prioritize projects appropriately
• Experience working with large datasets
• Detail oriented with strong follow-through and multitasking skills
