Requirements
Major Responsibilities:
• Assist 2 senior members of the publicity department
• Draft press releases and pitch materials for new books
• Assist with media campaigns for a wide range of new fiction, nonfiction, and poetry titles
• Research media and review outlets, media and review contacts, and event venues
• Assist in coordinating author readings, tours, and travel schedules
• Communicate comfortably and professionally with a variety of authors
• Facilitate advance copy and finished book mailings and outreach to book critics, TV and radio producers, review editors, and bloggers
• Administrative duties for the publicity department, including maintenance of media database and distribution of seasonal catalogs and reviewer checklists
Required Skills / Knowledge:
• Ability to multi-task while working in a fast paced environment
• Exceptional organizational skills
• Knowledge of contemporary literary and media landscapes
• Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and work independently
• Superior writing and communication skills
• Ability and willingness to work with social media, Excel and various media databases
Experience:
• Entry level, but prior experience in publishing or media is preferred
Educational Background Required:
• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a relevant subject area
