Now in its 22nd year, the Crested Butte Music Festival is an annual summer festival whose mission is to present an annual festival of diverse music and opera performed by outstanding artists, to inspire a greater appreciation of these art forms and to help develop the performers of tomorrow.
In addition to a broad offering of live performances, educational opportunities and free programming for children, CBMF develops adults and emerging artists in every genre. Over 160 acclaimed visiting artists from 15 countries come to the rural Gunnison Valley every summer, including musicians, conductors, singers, and stage directors from New York’s Metropolitan Opera (Met) and the London Symphony Orchestra, as well as celebrated soloists, popular ensembles, and Grammy-nominated and award-winning performers.
Position Summary:
The Development Director will be responsible for the execution of the Festival’s fundraising efforts. This person works in concert with the Executive Director and fundraising team to develop a strategy that diversifies and maximizes charitable and contributed revenues.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Work with Executive Director and Fundraising Team in the development, evaluation, and implementation of a multi-year fundraising strategy that diversifies and maximizes charitable and contributed revenues.
Execute strategy for all contributed revenue efforts and specific fundraising objectives.
Manage all donor activities like individual and business underwriting, planned giving, special events, and various supporting campaigns such as in-kind agreements.
Develop and implement creative ask campaigns and fundraising events to engage prospective donors, increase donor retention, and upgrade and renew existing donors.
Work with Executive Director and Fundraising Team to evolve and refine fundraising messaging to engage donors and promote the organization’s mission and brand.
Create direct mailings, campaign, and messaging materials needed to sustain strategy execution for print, web or social distribution.
Represent CBMF in community meetings, events, and online, with a goal to inspire increased active participation in CBMF.
Actively promote and advocate for brand and organization in digital media.
Assist in the identification and cultivation of new board members with the Executive Director and board leadership.
Steward and move donors and sponsors from prospecting to cultivation and through the moves management spectrum.
Ensure that all systems and processes, from data capture to gift acceptances and processing, follow sound accountability practices.
Evaluate and report the status of the fundraising strategy, campaigns and donor moves on a monthly and annual basis.
Manage CBMF’s existing grant portfolio. Research and identify government and foundation giving possibilities to expand portfolio as indicated in strategy.
Support special events through the planning of event-specific solicitations, promotions, the sale of tickets and tables, stewarding and prospecting of event donors, and management of auction items with committee members and fundraising team.
Other responsibilities as specified to assist the CBMF in achieving its overall organization objectives.
Requirements:
The Development Director must have at least five years of increasing responsibility and proven success in a fundraising role with demonstrated excellence in soliciting and stewarding donors, organizational management, and communication. Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field such as Non-Profit Management preferred.
