Capital Newspapers, publisher of the Wisconsin State Journal, Madison.com, The Cap Times, Amplified Digital, and many other award-winning media products and services, is currently seeking a full-time HR Coordinator for our Madison, WI office.
The Human Resources Coordinator assists with the day-to-day operations and administrative tasks of the human resources team. The position will work directly with the Vice President of Human Resources and carry out responsibilities in the following functional areas: Recruitment, record keeping, and HRIS.
This is an entry-level position that offers the perfect learning environment for anyone looking to gain experience in HR!
Responsibilities:
• Assist hiring process by coordinating job postings, screening resumes, attending career fairs, performing telephone interviews, conducting drug and background checks etc.
• Onboard new employees
• Track status of candidates in the Applicant Tracking System
• Prepare and maintain employee files, assuring accuracy, compliance and confidentiality
• Performs HR customer service by answering employee requests and questions
• Assist with workers compensation claims
• Make photocopies, fax documents, and perform other clerical functions
• Assist with employee activities and event planning
Qualifications & Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field OR 1-2 years’ experience in Human Resources
• Knowledge of principles and practices of human resources
• Must have a high level of integrity and ability to maintain confidential information
• Exceptional customer service skills
