Description
Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC) is a dynamic performing arts center located in the Hudson Yards neighborhood of New York City. BAC serves artists and audiences through an annual series of public presentations and a residency program. BAC seeks a FT Development Manager whose responsibilities will be to provide critical support to a growing Development Department and to provide crucial assistance in expanding BAC’s annual fundraising efforts with an emphasis on individual giving, managing and implementing fundraising events, and Board development.
The successful candidate will be a positive, self-managed individual and team player, with a strong work ethic. He or she must be adaptable, organized, and capable of maintaining keen attention to detail in an environment with competing priorities.
The Development Manager will report to the Director of Development.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provide essential support to expand BAC’s annual fundraising efforts with an emphasis on individual giving and special events, including:
· Work with Director of Development in maintaining a portfolio of approximately 150 individual donors.
· Develop and manage donor communications, including but not limited to annual appeals, acquisition mailings, and newsletters.
· Provide key management and support in planning and implementing all aspects of donor events and cultivation opportunities, including the annual Fall Fête, Auction, and other fundraising events.
· Engage in prospect identification as well as the cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation of individual donors, at all levels.
· Provide core assistance in creating and implementing new donor initiatives.
· Assist with gift renewals, gift processing, and acknowledgments.
· Provide support for department reporting and analytics.
· Attend Development related events, including receptions, opening nights, cultivation dinners, and annual Fall Fête.
· Support the Development Department with other duties, as well as collaborate with Programming, Marketing, Operations, Finance and Executive Leadership, as needed.
Ensure the execution of all Board-related business, including:
· Schedule BAC Board and Committee meetings.
· Prepare Board and Committee meeting information, materials and minutes, as well as disseminate and file materials and administrative records.
· Assist with facilitating correspondence between staff and Board to ensure efficient and effective communication.
· Work closely with Executive and Board Leadership to facilitate the cultivation and orientation processes of new Trustees.
· Oversee technological aspects of meetings, as needed.
· Respond in an accurate and timely manner to all Board inquiries and requests.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree, preferably in arts administration or humanities.
· 5+ years of experience in a development and/or individual giving position.
· Experience working with a board of trustees and major donors.
· Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with meticulous attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines.
· Superlative written, oral communication and editing skills.
· Successful event planning and execution experience is desirable.
· Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
· Strong knowledge of development database (Raiser’s Edge preferred).
· Knowledge of and interest in the arts.
Evening and occasional weekend hours are required.
