Overall Responsibility:
As a member of the Operational Excellence Department, this key position will assist with the implementation of the enterprise wide systems and process transformational roadmap by planning, leading, implementing, and monitoring initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce errors through the application of Lean Six Sigma and other process improvement tools. This position will focus on improving business policy and processes with goals of optimizing revenue, reducing costs, increasing efficiency, eliminating waste, defects, and other non-value added or duplicate efforts, with a continuous focus on improved customer experience. This position will spend 90-100% of time leading the policy, process, and functional requirements management for the enterprise projects supported by Operational Excellence.
This position is responsible for providing senior level business analysis leadership and execution to Global Supply Chain and Enterprise initiatives. The Senior Business Analyst provides leadership and builds partnerships across business and technology teams to achieve desired objectives through the application of proven business analysis techniques. The Senior Business Analyst is also responsible for preparing and communicating reliable Requirements Management plans and status for policy, process, and technology enhancements, and successfully managing risk in accordance with requirements management best practices. Depending on the nature & scope of the assignment, the individual may also be required to capitalize on his / her business experiences to assess, refine, stabilize, or optimize critical end to end enterprise processes. The candidate should have systems analysis and enterprise systems implementation expertise which will be required to achieve organizational objectives. The individual is expected to provide guidance and mentoring to junior staff members as appropriate especially in the areas of continuous improvement and Lean Six Sigma methodologies. By completing and managing a portfolio of strategic process improvement projects the Operational Excellence Senior Business Analyst will drive organizational change and influence a culture of sustained and continuous process improvement across the HMH enterprise.
The Senior Business Analyst works as a liaison among all levels of stakeholders in order to elicit, analyze, communicate and validate requirements for changes to business processes, policies, and systems. The Senior Business Analyst understands business problems and opportunities in the context of the requirements and recommends solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals and overall business strategies.
Primary Accountabilities:
• Function well in large-scale, highly complex, cross-functional / platform environment and enterprise value chain
• Solid individual performer, but may be called upon to lead and manage relevant process initiatives and manage resources in a project setting
• Share knowledge, coach and mentor other resources in area of business analysis concept, tools, and techniques
• May serve as technical lead in area of expertise
• May have duties instructing, directing, and checking the work of others
• Excellent communication and relationship skills; both in instructing and directing project teams, stakeholders, and providing updates to senior leadership
• Perform analysis of business issues through assessment of end-to-end value chain processes, provide recommendations for possible solutions, work with Business users and Technology project teams to drive decision making and define requirements for application development, ensuring that business needs are being met and outcomes can be measured
• Promote consensus on a high level view of the project and drill down into the details to obtain the requirements
• Perform thorough requirement interviews with project stakeholders and demonstrate ability to execute successfully across diverse stakeholder groups with varying needs
• Conduct comprehensive requirements reviews with project stakeholders, development and testing teams
• Create process flows and diagrams necessary to assist the requirements gathering process including use case diagrams, SIPOCs and other Lean / Six-Sigma tools and techniques
• Assist with translating requirements into business test cases to be used for user acceptance testing
• Complete documentation for business requirements which guide application development efforts, working closely with the development team and business teams to ensure successful implementation of business requirements
• Assist with the development and maintenance of the business requirements process used to define requirements for systems projects, assist with the definition and negotiation of project scope and create appropriate scope documentation
• Analyze opportunities to improve application reliability, provide recommendations for possible solutions, and work with TG and Business partners to implement solutions that enhance application and infrastructure reliability
• Work with TG and Business partners to build support procedures for monitoring system transactions and reacting to failures, provide ongoing support to manage application SLAs, resolve a majority of the problems and fulfill service requests that do not require application development
• Perform analysis of process compliance; work with TG and Business teams to eliminate weaknesses, support internal and external audit related activities
• Communicate project status, escalate issues, and mitigate risk across all initiatives
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in senior or lead level roles
• Proficient with MS Office Suite, Word, Visio, Excel, Powerpoint & Collaboration tools (SharePoint etc.)
• Prior experience with SAP or other ERP systems preferred
Physical Requirements:
• Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing)
• The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
• Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
• Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings
