Intellus Learning was founded with the goal of using technology to provide social value to the education community. Higher ed faculty currently use our tools to discover the best content for use in their classrooms while recognizing the needs to substantially reduce the cost of educational materials to their students.
This team is looking for a strong user experience partner to translate an extremely powerful suite of search, discovery and analytics tools into an efficient, insightful, and enjoyable platform for college faculty and students. As the UX lead, you’ll partner closely with product & engineering to dive deep into the search and search-results space as well as understand and improve upon the workflow that faculty and instructional designers use to create and improve their curriculum. The team collectively uses discovery, rapid-piloting and proofs-of-concept a fast-moving agile environment to get software out quickly and without fear of experimenting.
Good candidates are naturally curious, empathetic, and collaborative, and they approach their work and ideas with confidence and humility. They love understanding the people they’re designing for: talking to them, hearing their stories, and learning the nuances of their behaviors and motivations. They not only have solid gut instinct around what makes a good product and good product design but they repeatedly deliver awesome work. They have a strong curiosity about students on their higher education journey and are excited about the opportunity to define the future of education technology.
Responsibilities:
• Use a human-centered design approach where you’ll be a key contributor to research, strategy, design, and validation for the products you work on
• Work with the product team to deeply understand user and business needs
• Collaborate with other designers, product owners, and discipline experts to build empathy and validate concepts for students, teachers, and administrators
• Synthesize research to frame problems, uncover insights, and tell stories that build alignment and buy-in with your team and stakeholders
• Facilitate ideation and sketching sessions to generate inventive ideas and new product opportunities for Macmillan’s suite of learning tools
• Communicate your work to stakeholders; from fellow designers to executives
• Communicate effectively with product and engineering to define, prioritize, and deliver the requirements, use-cases, and design assets that will bring your product to life
• Work with product and engineering to continuously test and iterate the design of the product throughout its life cycle
• Constantly improve your skills as a designer and leader
Requirements:
• Demonstrated experience in applying your design skills to the entire product lifecycle, from research and discovery, to design, to delivery
• Demonstrated experience or readiness to apply your design skills in a lead role
• Experience facilitating cross-functional working sessions and/or workshops with peers and stakeholders
