Communications Manager, The Atlantic

We are seeking an experienced communications professional to join The Atlantic communications team in New York, NY. Reporting to the
Senior Director of Communications, the Manager will be part of a team of three dedicated to developing strategies and promoting the company, its staff, journalism, products, and events across all divisions. Given the position is NYC based, the role will be embedded with the sales and marketing teams based there and focused especially on promoting their efforts and initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have 3+ years PR/Communications experience with some understanding of the advertising and publishing industries. He/she will diligently maintain important internal and external relationships, devote strong attention to detail, thrive in a collaborative, cross-functional environment and be able to work under deadline.
The Communications Manager responsibilities include:
• Supporting the development and implementation of a strategic communications plan to support The Atlantic’s business objectives;
• Working regularly with advertising and publishing trade press to effectively communicate The Atlantic’s business strategy;
• Supporting the senior director in promotion of pivotal company initiatives, including events and new product launches;
• Proactive pitching of editorial work, and broadcast bookings for Atlantic journalists;
• Drafting communications including press releases and statements;
• Building and maintaining press lists;
• Seeking and securing brand building opportunities for The Atlantic’s sales and marketing leadership and journalists.

The job is based in New York, NY and reports to the Senior Director of Communications, The Atlantic and to the Senior Vice President of Communications, Atlantic Media.
