Description
Newsy's groundbreaking D.C. newsroom is looking for a part-time Production Assistant. You're a fit if you love live television operations and are wired as a self-starter who sees something needing to be done and jumps on it.
In this role, you'll be responsible for assisting the team with daily studio and field production.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist with technical operations in the studio including operating teleprompter
• Assist in gathering, writing and editing content for multiple platforms
• Work with engineers to make production efficient and minimize last-minute complications with scheduled programming
• Work with engineers to upload airchecks, backup files and other admin duties related to show production
• Oversee studio operations and act as concierge to incoming guests and hosts
• Work with associate producer to secure props for segments online or at brick and mortar
• Update PTO in team conference room based on A, B, C, D weeks
• Print daily rundowns for executive producer
• Work with line producers to maintain a clean and positive work environment. This includes organizing conference room daily and assisting with staff lunches and special events
• Execute daily run requests
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• 1 year of television newsroom experience preferred
• Background in film, TV and audio preferred
Skills and Abilities:
• Previous newsroom experience preferred
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Highly organized with ability to effectively handle multiple tasks and projects while maintaining accuracy and quality; meticulous attention to detail
• Strong Verbal and written communication skills, including grammar, storytelling abilities and news judgment. * Proficiency in Mac and PC, Final Cut Pro and I-News.
• Knowledge and demonstration of creativity, editorial judgment, journalistic ethics and libel laws.
• Ability to execute time sensitive decisions
• Overtime, weekend, overnight, shift and holiday work may be required
