Overview and Responsibilities
BET Networks, a Viacom company, is currently seeking a Senior Director, Digital Video. The Senior Director, Digital Video will work closely with the VP, Digital Video & Social Media Strategy to create video programming in support of linear scripted shows, annual award shows and digital originals for publish on BET’s owned and operated properties as well as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with the goal of growing subscribers/followers and increasing video views across platforms.
The 5 primary goals for this role are to:
• Lead video ideation and creation for video franchises in support of linear scripted series that generate video views and organic interest in linear properties.
• Create and maintain annual programming calendar with video executions of varying sizes that produce a healthy amount of video inventory for the sales team to take to market each quarter.
• Create, manage and maintain robust production schedule of original digital video franchises that act as a foundation for consistent BET programming across YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter that increase video views.
• Lead seamless production of live stream broadcasts from red carpet/backstage at various awards shows that generate audience interest in linear events or strengthen brand connection with the viewing audience & talent.
• Leverage archival BET intellectual property to create immersive video experiences that generate video views and champion brand legacy.
The Senior Director, Digital Video reports to the VP, Digital Video & Social Media Strategy and is based in Los Angeles.
Responsibilities:
• Manage a team of 4 video producers and 5 interactive producers.
• Act as primary liaison between linear programming team and digital group, ensuring that digital has the most accurate info on linear shows far enough in advance to create compelling video experiences.
• Ensure that BET consistently publishes compelling video in support of linear properties and initiatives in and out of season.
• Create and present plans to senior leadership and producers that detail video support for linear scripted, award show and original digital content.
• Manage monthly delivery of digital content to BET VOD platforms.
Own key measures of success including audience growth and engagement around content packages.
Basic Qualifications
The ideal candidate is an experienced video creator that has succeeded in the linear and digital worlds with a thirst to erase the lines that separate the two, and a belief that BET is the brand that can do this best. In addition to this, the candidate must possess the following:
• 8+ years working with linear or digital video
• Proven track record of creating compelling digital video experiences that reach millions
• Deep knowledge of black and urban cultural trends
• Bachelor’s Degree a must; Master’s Degree a plus
• Excellent writing skills and ability to speak and message effectively to the BETN audiences
• Solid project management skills
• A resourceful self-starter with a strong desire to learn
• Strong interpersonal skills with the proven ability to build consensus and work as part of an executive team
• Ability to manage multiple projects at once, working in a fast paced environment
• Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas, both written and verbal
• A strong work ethic, determination, persuasiveness and ability to get the job done
