Director of Enrollment Analytics and Systems

Blackboard’s Student Services organization is looking for a knowledgeable, results-oriented Director of Enrollment Analytics and Systems to join our team and work directly with our Higher Education clients as well as with various internal stakeholders. We’re focused on making data-driven decisions that address the big challenges facing institutions today and this person will play a leadership role in that work.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Across the Blackboard organization, and on behalf of our clients, there is a heavy emphasis on using data, systems, and technology to guide and optimize the best strategic approach to enterprise-level objectives such as enrollment growth, financial health, and student retention. The Director of Enrollment Analytics and Systems will be the go-to person and a leader for these efforts within Blackboard’s Marketing and Enrollment Services team. S/he will be a direct contributor and lead a team that is responsible for the effective utilization of marketing and enrollment systems, and delivering analysis of the business.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in call center technology (CRM and dialers), report automation, data modeling, forecasting and analysis. In addition to these technical skills, excellent communication and client service skills are a must. S/he will need to be a self-starter who is able to work autonomously as well as collaboratively across various groups, internal stakeholders, and with multiple clients at a time.
This person’s ability and willingness to apply their analytical and systems skills in flexible ways will be essential to this person’s success. The role straddles both internal needs and external client-facing projects. This person will work closely with strategists, sales leaders, and technology staff to define solutions that reflect a solid ROI for the client, sound pricing models for the business, and achievable performance indicators for the team. As such, the ability to collaborate with team members and clients is an important factor. This person must be able to manage multiple initiatives and projects running concurrently. S/he must be highly fluent in the use of Excel, CRM’s, dialers and be willing to interact with clients to obtain inputs, validate assumptions, educate on approach, and present results.
This person will report directly to the Senior Director of Enrollment and Retention Services.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of Enrollment Analytics and Systems will play a critical role in the development and execution of an automated reporting suite and ad hoc data analyses to support the success of our clients and our business. This person will also be responsible for the successful functioning of the marketing and enrollment systems. Specific responsibilities include:
Marketing and Enrollment Funnel Analysis
Blackboard provides Higher Education clients with data-driven insights that help connect each step in the enrollment and retention process. The Director of Enrollment Analytics and Systems will lead this work as we drive towards operational efficiency and a return on the client’s investment. By providing accurate and thorough forecasting, reporting, and KPI tracking, this person will play a critical role in ensuring client success. The Director of Enrollment Analytics and Systems will work both internally with Bb project and sales leads as well as directly with clients to thread the data from strategic planning to marketing outreach to enrollment management and on to retention.
Marketing and Enrollment Funnel Reporting Suite
Blackboard’s internal marketing and enrollment teams rely on data to make decisions and improve performance. Key reports are manually created on a regular basis and provided to multiple levels of the organization. The Director of Enrollment Analytics and Systems will be responsible for creating an automated suite of reports that will enable marketing and enrollment leaders to manage performance more effectively. The reporting suite will include numerous reports that are scheduled at various frequencies, being sent to multiple levels across the organization. Creating the reporting suite will require working across multiple Blackboard teams and systems. The Director of Enrollment Analytics and Systems will provide the technical expertise to create the reporting suite, and will demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills, as s/he works through the organization to identify the key reports required and to create the automation.
Marketing and Enrollment Systems Administration
Blackboard Student Services and its clients rely on the successful design, implementation, and integration of all systems and technology that support the marketing and enrollment functions. The Director of Enrollment Analytics and Systems will be responsible for the administration of these systems, which include but are not necessarily limited to: CRM, dialer, web forms, marketing automation tools. S/he will maintain an ongoing evaluation of these systems and will look for opportunities to enhance system utilization, and/or bringing on new systems.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED SKILLS
• Bachelor's degree
• 7+ years’ experience in financial analysis, data modeling, institutional research, enrollment analytics or related field
• Outstanding analytical skills are required, including the ability to analyze raw data, draw conclusions, and summarize actionable recommendations as part of forecasted outcomes/implications
• Experience with data visualization, common data visualization tools, and presenting compelling narrative through effective data visualizations
• Ability to “think outside-the-box” and demonstrate creative problem solving
• Excellent customer service and client-facing skills required, including ability to present at executive level audience
• Problem solving and critical thinking skills are a must
• Independent, self-starter with strong prioritization, project management and coordination skills; and ability to excel in a fluid, cross-functional team environment
• Deep expertise in Microsoft Excel
• Experience with marketing and enrollment systems and technology – CRM’s, dialers, marketing automation tools, web forms, etc.
• Ability to consistently perform under the pressure of deadlines and other administrative demands
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented, collaborative, flexible environment
• Some travel required (15%)
PREFERRED SKILLS
• Advanced degree desirable
• Experience working within higher education industry a big plus
• 10+ years of professional experience preferred
• Knowledge of enrollment performance tools and software including CRM, Marketing Automation, and Bid Management
• Knowledge of database management/SQL preferred
• Knowledge of higher education metrics and NCES/IPEDS data preferred
