Job Summary
This position’s primary responsible is working in conjunction with multiple groups to develop/engineer/initiate critical/common system engineering plans (i.e. ac power, ac surge suppression, generator/transfer switches, ups systems, HVAC, building construction, DC power, grounding and lightning, final floor and space planning and records/capacity.) This position resides in the Network Planning and Implementation department and is considered a lead position that requires the individual to be an accomplished technical engineer/planner who is adept at budgeting, planning, facilitating, and kicking highly accurate plans off for deployment of critical system telecom equipment and build outs with specific expertise in areas of telecommunications with emphasis of DC power, electrical and mechanical. The Critical System Planner will interact and work closely with key internal and external groups along with vendors to create, establish, and enforce project plans for the installation of services with effective governance and communications.
Job Description
• Project Planning – develop project plans, tasks, and timelines with great vision and clarity while performing risk assessment, contingency planning, and resource management to ensure services are consistently delivered correctly and cost effectively on a timely manner.
• Develops, documents, and communicates network deployment standards that promote the health, scalability, and flawless operation of our network and the protection of our customers, employees, assets, and revenues.
• Drives the ongoing support of our existing networking technologies with external vendors to ensure a positive working relationship, complete accountability, and integrity of the working teams.
• Continuous execution of network plans and initiatives of projects based on health, scale, and capacity needs to align company objectives
• Create, analyzes and interprets rough sketches, drawings, notes, calculations, specifications, and technical details, ensuring results are accurate, complete, meet engineering requests/needs, and maintain compliance with company standards
• Initiates work identifying current or potential problems in the network and defines appropriate solutions. Functions as technical lead and mentors team members, may supervise work of personnel on assigned projects. Acts as lead for mission-critical cross-functional interdepartmental teams.
• Provides technical expertise and leadership on the most efficient use of existing and new technologies. Demonstrates detailed understanding of current network configuration and technology to ensure capacity and efficiency of the planned designs. Participates in definition of new network configurations, technologies, and best planning practices. Provides direction for the development of tools to monitor, manage, and report on the network.
• Acts as Subject Matter Expert. Evaluates and provides input on new products to enable new service introduction, cost savings, and /or performance utilization under periodic supervision. Leads the development of plans to augment, optimize, and reconfigure the network as growth dictates. Leads cross functional teams to give input to Architecture and Engineering on Planning and Deployment equipment and network design requirements.
• Defines requirements, develops, implements and uses algorithmic programming for reporting procedures and methodologies to analyze network utilization and predicts growth trends. Troubleshoots reporting errors and identifies data specific problems within large sets of data. Manually facilitates correction of reporting errors caused by data problems.
• Defines the need for and documents extremely complex detailed technical methodology for installation of network equipment of moderate complexity, including written directions, graphical equipment layouts, and equipment topology.
• Prepares status/progress reports and updates management on projects. Participates in development of reports under limited supervision. Presents new reports and summaries of network data to Management, Product Teams, and Network Planning. Trains users in how to use these new tools and how they will benefit them.
Qualifications
• Experience: 7+ yrs
• Education Level: Master's Degree
• Field Of Study: Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics
• Attention to detail with good organizational capabilities.
• Ability to prioritize with good time management skills.
Education
Masters or Equivalent in Electrical Engineering or Engineering General
