The Director of Market Intelligence is a key leader in the Field Marketing team in New York City– a market with significant complexity and competitive intensity. Helps to lead the team, which is tasked with maximizing the company’s competitive performance and market share for both the residential business and the small-to-medium sized businesses (SMB) segment.With a rigorous discipline around intelligence gathering, verification of syndicated data, and original market-level investigation, analysis and reporting, Market Intelligence Marketers are the company’s subject matter experts of local market dynamics and of all competitors in each of the communities we serve.Reports to the Vice President of Market Intelligence.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES
Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience
• Plays key support role to the Vice President of Market Intelligence. An active contributor to the team’s output, the Director helps to lead and motivate the team.
• Manages, develops, documents and reports competitive intelligence and insights. Proficient for both Residential business as well as the SMB sector.
• Performs data analysis on key performance metrics, taking into account factors such as the competitive marketplace, and helps to develop data-driven business cases for local programs, as appropriate.
• Identify and curate insights on competitors’ offer strategies, product and pricing, positioning, construction activity, and any other changes that affect market dynamics and share.
• Maintain current, regularly updated and detailed reference materials for each of our competitors to inform and support Charter marketing, sales, offer and product strategy.
• Plays a supporting role in the development of local competitive campaigns; helps to execute and report on the results of these campaigns.
• Plays an active role in local implementation of activations supporting seasonal and multicultural initiatives.
• As appropriate, ensure that the local operation and the front line is informed and aware of the company’s marketing, product and growth initiatives and priorities.
• Helps to manage the processes by which channel line-ups, rate cards, welcome kits and other marketing collateral are proofread, properly stocked, inventoried and distributed throughout the region as necessary.
• Helps to develop and manage the Market Intelligence budget and quarterly and monthly forecasts for regional expenditures.
• Perform other duties as requested.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
• Strong business sense, strategic thinking and sense of urgency to achieve business results
• Analytical skills, including the ability to develop spreadsheets, strong working knowledge of business statistics, and ability to read financial statements
• Must analyze, interpret and present data and insights in a clear and concise fashion
• Ability to communicate effectively and persurasively with all levels of management and company personnel
• Must plan, prioritize and organize effectively
• Must handle multiple projects and tasks, and be to provide direction in times of ambiguity
• Acts with discretion and maintains confidentiality at all times
• Strong team and relationship building skills
• Ability to use personal computer and software applications (i.e. word processing, spreadsheet, database, etc.)
Education
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field, or equivalent experience
MBA preferred
Related Work Experience
8-10 yearsof Consumer marketing experience
5-7 yearsof Cable, Internet, and/or Telecom industry experience
5+ years of Management experience
WORKING CONDITIONS
Office environment
Travel as required
