National Account Manager, Random House, Crown, Knopf

Penguin Random House is seeking a National Account Manager to be responsible for selling and managing the title base, promotions, and business relationships at Walmart and its supporting vendor, Readerlink. Working with a wide variety of titles across the Random House, Crown, and Knopf Publishing Groups, this position will have regular contact with other internal departments and will attend regular meetings, which include imprint launch, strategy, hot title, and sales conference meetings.
Specific responsibilities include:
1. Preparing, researching, and presenting all relevant titles, all backlist titles, and special promotions to accounts.
2. Optimizing all frontlist and backlist opportunities through in-store promotions.
3. Maintaining accurate and responsible co-op pool.
4. Representing the Random House, Crown, and Knopf divisions to Walmart and its supporting vendors.
5. Providing consistent feedback on account performance after each client meeting.
6. Visiting Walmart and vendors on a regular basis to sell frontlist and backlist titles and to gather feedback on sell-through, account news, and other industry related information.
7. Maintaining accurate records of transactions.

• Minimum of 4 years of prior publishing experience; direct selling experience preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
• Strong follow up skills
• Highly organized with the ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
• Proactive with the ability to work well under pressure
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the year by car, train, or plane within the domestic U.S.
