The Surfacing Lead is responsible for overseeing the surfacing team. Their job is to ensure consistent workflow and that the pipeline processes are being followed. They will also work closely with the supervisors and help implement feedback and pipeline changes. The primary duties of the Surfacing Lead will be focused on managing the surfacing team with asset production being done as time permits.
Responsibilities
• Train and mentor new hires
• Collaborate with other departments to troubleshoot creative and technical issues.
• Ensure artists adhere to pipeline processes such as naming conventions, file management, render times
• Paint maps and images
• Create efficient UV layouts
• Create and maintain desired surface look and feel for characters, props and environments with direction from the Production Designer and/or Art Director
Qualifications
• Degree/diploma in fine arts or animation or equivalent experience
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Feature Film, Commercial and/or Video Game production
• Great communication, time management, and problem solving skills
• Positive attitude and work ethic
Experience with Maya and Arnold or similar render packages
Good artistic eye for detail with ability to match art reference
Familiarity with polygonal surfacing and UV layout
• Extensive experience in Mari or similar 3D painting package
