The Sales Development Representative’s role is to prospect and identify qualified leads, to transition to field representatives responsible for accepting and nurturing those leads. The sales development representative may occasionally be asked to participate in specific call campaigns as well.
This position requires the Sales Development Representative to become well versed in all products as they make contact with prospects to identify ways to meet the needs of all stakeholders (teachers, administrators and students). The sales development representative will need to become an expert on K-12 purchasing cycles as they relate to school district, Title I, and other Federal funding guidelines. This position requires strong communication and listening skills and the ability to identify and respond to customer needs with successful virtual sales campaigns and presentations.
Responsibilities of the Sales Development Representative:
• Plans and organizes area coverage and lead generation campaigns, which includes cold calling and referral based prospecting
• Utilizing a consultative approach, position and qualify the primary customer need and situation to align solutions and services
• Develop and manage lead generation activities including but not limited to webinars, email campaigns, and outbound calling for assigned territory
• Conduct prompt follow-up on leads from activities including but not limited to strategic partners, trade shows, and marketing activities
Basic Qualifications of the Sales Development Representative:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• 1-3 years inside sales experience
Preferred Qualifications of the Sales Development Representative:
• Ability to gain appropriate level of knowledge through self-study, training, and experience
• Knowledge of administration practices, including use of CRM systems
• Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Strong creative-thinking and analytical skills
• Self-motivated, goal and detail-oriented, persistent and dependable with strong probing skills
• Proven track record of developing leads, as well as closing business over the phone
