The Associate Video Producer will work closely with the Lead Producer of the Video department and the Fountas & Pinnell editorial, Professional Development Services, and marketing team, in addition to other stakeholders. The producer will oversee and manage the video-based needs for Fountas & Pinnell resources.
The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven video department, and be adept at prioritizing and managing multiple, concurrent projects through to successful completion. Core responsibilities include working with PD services, marketing, authors, production and editorial staff to manage creation of videos from concept development through to final product, managing workflow with freelancers and in-house staff, and overall video project management.
The position requires excellent communication skills, strong organizational skills with close attention to detail and schedules, and the ability to work quickly to assist with last-minute requests. The video producer must be a team player with good problem-solving ability, have a thorough understanding of video production.
Primary Responsibilities May Include:
• Work with authors/marketing/PD Services/production/publisher and other in-house stakeholders to understand video needs
• Create pre-production/production/post production schedules
• Determine how many shoot days are needed each year.
• Contact teachers identified by authors and/or stakeholders to see if they are interested in participating and, if so, work them into the scheduled days.
• Scout the schools for sound/visual impediments
• Make sure there is a clear plan for identifying lessons and for reviewing them for appropriateness.
• Hire crew and manage paperwork and staffing for video shoot
• Create schedule for each shoot day and get approval from authors.
• Connect teachers with PD Services for lesson questions/education
• Secure permissions for any book pages we read aloud/show in the videos
• Manage or direct the video editing
• Work with team members for script writing needs/requirements/secure writers for scripts
• Manage the viewing and approvals by authors
• Keep website /digital team updated on video statuses how they will be organized online
• Verify that all author changes have been made and sign off on videos
• Report for budget needs
Education and Experience
• College degree
• 2+ years experience in broadcast/production house experience, or other video marketing or video experience
• Fountas & Pinnell content knowledge
Knowledge and Skills
• Project management and communication skills
• Deep knowledge of, and background in, video production
• Ability to work with team members in various locations.
• Experience in large-scale productions is a plus.
• Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere experience, preferred
Physical Requirements
• Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing).
• The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
• Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
• Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings.
