Director of Production
Job Description Summary:
The Director of Production and Digital Studio provides leadership, management and expertise across all product models in a specific discipline or business unit in order to implement programs, corporate strategies, standards, and guidelines within the context of the PDR and Global Product, driving Pearson’s digital transformation.
The Director of Production is responsible for implementing solutions that drive program and organizational performance. This role is pivotal in helping achieve key company strategies and partners collaboratively with the Courseware, Product Management, Design and Content Development teams to create, implement and execute on the overall plan for the products within the discipline – including the management of the selection of resources, budget, plant forecasting and schedule.
The Director of Production oversees Content Producers and Digital Studio Producers, and the work they do planning and controlling the product scope, cost/budget, time schedules, quality and timely delivery of all product components – both print and digital.

Management
Receives little or no direct supervision, minimal guidance from direct and indirect managers
Primary functions require exercising independent judgment
Manages a team of managers/supervisors directly and individual contributors indirectly. Indirectly supports Courseware, Product Management & Design and Content Development.
Manages strategic External vendors
Qualifications
Education/Experience/Skills
• Bachelors/Undergraduate degree required and a Masters preferred
• 5 -10 years of publishing and academic experience, with aspects of sales, project and/or program management
• Acquisition Editorial experience preferred
• Digital product development essential
• Game development preferred
• Proficient with PC & Mac including Google Mail and Docs, Microsoft Word, Powerpoint/KeyNote, and Excel

Has a good knowledge of the specifics of one’s dedicated segment.

Accountable for defining and ensuring adherence to media standards for one’s category and makes necessary delivery trade-off’s with the learner's use in mind. Responsible for content and final integration QA for the category.
Transformative:Responsible for applying content structure, enrichment and other compliance standards and for identifying potential enhancements in this field. Flags areas of improvement in terms of production workflow or relationships with vendors in order to increase efficiency or reduce costs.
