We're searching for a seasoned PR pro to join our Chicagoland-based team. This individual is a highly organized, self-starter that has a comprehensive, experienced and in-depth grasp of Public Relations and media. He/she will be responsible for directing all public relations and communications efforts for all local markets in Feld’s East Central Region (region includes the mid-western U.S. as well as Ontario and Quebec Provinces of Canada.) Overall duties include overseeing public relations campaigns while managing publicists in each market. Individual must be able to handle multiple shows across all Feld brands simultaneously. Organization and attention to detail are essential.
Essential Job Functions
• Develop market- and region-specific PR strategies and programs in coordination with the Regional VP, Promoters, and Corporate PR team.
• Serve as main liaison between corporate communications department and staff in region.
• Manage the overall implementation of the region's PR program.
• Ensure all campaigns support Feld company messaging while adhering to company guidelines as well as licensee/partner guidelines.
• Hire, manage, and evaluate local PR agencies and/or publicists in coordination with the Regional VP, respective Promoter, and Corporate PR team.
• Serve as liaison between local publicist and touring unit, from program planning through the conclusion of the engagement.
• Implement all corporate brand public relations campaigns, strategies, and events via publicists in respective local markets. Work with other company departments including Government Relations, as needed.
• In coordination with the Corporate PR team, assist corporate and touring unit with members of the national press when they cover stories in local markets.
• Manage local senior executive events, appearances, and media interviews.
• Serve as corporate spokesperson for matters with local and regional media including issues related matters in coordination with Corporate PR.
• Contribute to strategy and build of national PR campaigns for new brand launches within region as well as nationally.
• Manage Industry and Trade Association related PR programs.
• Crisis communications – must be capable of handling crisis PR situations when they arise; working with corporate PR department, local publicist, promoter and regional VP to execute an effective plan in a timely manner.
• College degree preferred (degree or related expertise in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, or Marketing preferred.)
• 9-12 years of public relations experience with emphasis on strategic development and implementation of robust, multi-faceted PR campaigns. Experience at a public relations agency, live event marketing firm, or in management within a corporate PR department or public relations agency required. Journalism experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with new media required.
• Knowledge of public affairs issues that could impact the company within the region preferred.
• Ability to work well and closely with entertainment partners/licensee corporations like Disney, NBC Universal, etc.
• Strong organizational, project and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple campaigns simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, while being fiscally responsible to approved budget.
• Knowledge of the local and national media within the region, established media contacts within the region strongly preferred.
• Experience with media relations, issues management, and as a spokesperson, both on and off-camera.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to build professional relationships and work well with all personality types. Ability to interface with multiple levels of management within and outside an organization.
• Professional, levelheaded capacity to make sound judgments and lead under pressure.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Team orientation; highly flexible and resourceful
• Willingness to travel (approximately 40% of time) and field media inquiries and local agent calls on nights and weekends during peak season.
