As a result of intense competition, Comcast Corporation is looking to leverage its network, scale, devices and distribution capabilities into new, adjacent growth opportunities.
The New Businesses team identifies and develops new business line opportunities for Comcast. The team seeks out adjacent, new business opportunities and vets them through a rigorous financial and strategic screening process. Once an opportunity is selected, the team will negotiate with partners as needed, manage early stages of defining and implementing products, and in most cases bring opportunities to market launch. Xfinity Home, machineQ, and Comcast Energy Solutions are examples of initiatives that have been incubated and launched by the New Businesses Team.
Job Summary:
The Director,will be involved in the end-to-end business development cycle from concept to launch, including evaluation of industry trends, target identification, business case modeling, technology and risk evaluation, build/buy/partner analysis, and sales/marketing strategy.
The successful candidate will have a strong financial and strategic acumen with proven skills in financial analysis and modeling, a broad understanding of technology and emerging platforms with the ability to think strategically about why and how Comcast enters into a new business opportunity.
Core Responsibilities:
-Performs financial analyses and supports other analyses and business planning as necessary
-Develop an understanding of Comcast's business strategy and existing product lines
Scan market for potential new business opportunities.
-Identify, develop and evaluate potential opportunities.
-Develop, analyze, and present due diligence models required to determine viability and profitability of new business opportunities.
-Create comprehensive business plans; financial models, customer segmentation, entry strategy, pricing, operations, and technical requirements.
-Competitive benchmarking and industry trend analysis.
-Prepare presentations for senior executives that demonstrate value propositions, capabilities, potential integrations, and next steps.
-Contribute to early stages of product definition, development, and implementation.
-Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
-Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
-Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications / Skills Required:
-Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent in Business, Finance or related degree
-Generally requires 10+ years related experience.
-Minimum 3 years of experience, preferably with a consulting firm, sell-side research group, or investment bank.
-Demonstrated financial acumen with the ability to create pro forma business models and review/interpret financial statements.
-Experience with market and customer research.
-Proficiency with PowerPoint and Excel
-Experience in digital media is highly desired!
-Minimal travel across the country and on an as needed basis.
