Senior Financial Analyst (Temporary Assignment)
Job Description
This position will be responsible for assisting the Compensation team in the accounting and financial reporting related to the company’s third party payroll workers (3PPW). This position will assist in the day-to-day accounting operations of the department, as well as, in the preparation of the monthly financial statements, account analyses, quarterly forecasts, annual budgets and reforecasts.
Monitor monthly expenditures for the “freelance/temp help” accounts in SAP (balance sheet and P&L); prepare quarterly balance sheet reconciliations. Reconcile payroll and 401(k) clearing accounts on a monthly basis. Record monthly journal entries in SAP as required. (25%)
Partner with HR and Budget Managers to prepare and input annual budget and quarterly forecast for “freelance/temp help” expense for a population of over 250 third party payroll workers. Develop detailed budget/forecast file from individual employee level. Develop and maintain detailed “freelance/temp help” expense analysis to support consolidated budget/forecast amounts. Any anticipated risk should be communicated to management. (25%)
Review all new requests for 3PPWs and ensure the requested dollars and headcounts are aligned with the budget/forecast. (15%)
Monitor and prepare presentation to the Review Committee on requested third party payroll workers. Communicate and collaborate with HR to ensure all necessary documentation is accurately recorded. Facilitate and manage the conversion process on an ongoing basis as conversions are needed. (15%)
Prepare and present monthly 3PPW headcount report with variance analysis for management. (10%)
Review all third party payroll worker invoices and ensure time worked is accurately reported and coding of the invoices are accurate. Submit all invoices for payment. (5%)
Work on special projects applicable to “freelance/temp help” accounts as they arise – from within Finance, outside departments, external vendors. Collaborate with Finance and HR on all third party payroll worker items. (5%)
Qualification Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
Must be familiar with basic accounting and budgeting/forecasting concepts. Must have strong attention to detail and ability to work in a self-sufficient environment. Must have knowledge of employee benefits reporting requirements.
3 - 5 years of corporate finance and/or public accounting experience; must be proficient with MS Excel and Word.
Individual must be articulate and have superior communication and customer service skills. Individual will need to establish relationships with both internal and external contacts. It is critical for the individual to be able to react quickly and appropriately to changing schedules/priorities.
Educational Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
Other Skills and Knowledge Public accounting/auditing experience is preferred though not necessarily required.
Exposure to SAP budgeting software packages a plus.
