Executive Producer, GQ
GQ, the world’s preeminent men’s lifestyle brand, is looking for a seasoned producer to oversee its award-winning digital video programming. The desired mix includes short- and long-form posts that cover documentary, fiction, non-fiction, comedy and entertainment series. The person in this newly created role will develop and refine ideas, manage production (including in-house and freelance resources), oversee the video budget, and ensure that the final, edited product is delivered on time.
The position is a part of Conde Nast Entertainment, and the producer will sit with GQ’s business and editorial teams at 1 World Trade Center. Coordinating between CNE and GQ is a primary responsibility.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of creating and executing series in a variety of genres of relevance to GQ’s audience–as well as a strong understanding of what kinds of content will scale organically on the Internet. Expectations for both editorial quality and audience growth are extremely high.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Shape the strategic vision and direction of GQ’s video programming. The producer must always think through GQ’s existing goals and overall strategy when managing the development and production process.
• Review, edit, and approve preliminary and final treatments, outlines, shooting scripts, scripts, casting, production schedules, budgets, selects, graphics, music, rough cuts, fine cuts, final narration and final versions of all assigned programs.
• Supervise assigned Production Support Team members. Responsible for managing their daily workload, schedule, career growth, training and development as well as their annual review.
• Enrich GQ’s roster of collaborating filmmakers by identifying new filmmakers and video teams to work with, primarily in New York and Los Angeles but also nationally and internationally as individual projects require.
• Partner and manage relationships with GQ’s director of editorial projects, photo director, PR director, and digital team. Demonstrate effective leadership and communication skills when developing and producing projects – keeping all stakeholders invested in the project.
• Work with internal research team to conduct regular health checks on current shows and make recommendations on distribution, positioning and creative direction based on the data.
• Make sure the pipeline of new content is well maintained, and that archival content is effectively resurfaced.
• Manage multiple outside production companies on multiple projects simultaneously, and in coordination with internal departments, ensure timely, effective and on-budget development, production and delivery of projects.
• Adhere to and be accountable for all aspects of Conde Nast’s editorial, budgetary and production standards, as well as contractual and deliverables requirements for programming.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
• A minimum of 6+ years experience producing and developing digital videos on various platforms.
• A demonstrated track record in creative execution
• Creative and strategic thinker
• Experience managing a slate of multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write outstanding proposals
• Demonstrated aptitude to work closely with external producers to represent the channel needs.
• Ability to partner and manage Brand team and Brand needs
