Vice President, Corporate Development
Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Corporate Development Group is seeking a Vice President to drive long-term company growth. The VP will be a leader in identifying, evaluating and executing both organic and inorganic opportunities across SPE’s film and television businesses.
Reporting to the EVP, Corporate Development this individual will closely partner with colleagues across SPE as well as other senior stakeholders across Sony. Additionally, this role will have access to some of SPE’s most senior business leaders.
Key Responsibilities Include:
• Leading detailed structuring and execution of strategic analysis
• Proactively identifying opportunities for growth and investment
• Evaluating opportunities for business improvement
• Leading teams for select deal execution
• Creating highly visible business presentations on behalf of SPE’s leadership
• Managing and mentoring Corporate Development staff
The right candidate will demonstrate experience in challenging and defining management’s views of the industry, competitive landscape and company positioning. He or she will be able to structure and execute robust analyses to set strategic direction. Additionally, the VP will be an effective thought partner to SPE leadership and should demonstrate the ability to influence management thinking.
Experience and Skills Desired:
• Minimum 8-10 years of transactional corporate development and/or corporate strategy (possibly a combination of in-house and consulting/advisory services experience)
• Deep knowledge of the media and entertainment space strongly preferred
• Exceptional analytical skills
• Strong willingness to debate, challenge and contribute to company dialogue around corporate and divisional strategy
• Deep experience with valuation, negotiation and transaction mechanics
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills
• Experience directly interacting with C-Level executives; previous public company experience preferred
• Strong relationship builder; works effectively at all levels of the organization
• Experience balancing the interests of multiple stakeholders
• Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines simultaneously
• Keen attention to detail; efficient and highly organized
• Flexibility to succeed in both a structured and unstructured environment
• Experience leading and mentoring a team
Education Requirements:
• B.S. / B.A. required
• MBA strongly preferred
