HR Manager, Leagues & Esports Live Events
Blizzard eSports don’t just begin with game ideas, or end once the events are finished. Operations teams support, evangelize, and improve our programs. As part of Blizzard operations, human resources (HR) supports our employees and business units on a global scale. We provide guidance on the usual variety of HR topics, but our also group extends to include internal communications, talent & organizational development, internal mobility, global rewards, wellness, talent acquisition, philanthropy, and of course some of the most talented and creative HR business partners around, all dedicated to fostering the best work experience possible for our fellow employees.
We’re seeking an experienced and innovative human resources manager to join our team in Irvine, CA. You will provide dedicated support and guidance to our Leagues and Esports Live Events group, assisting in all functional areas of human resources for multiple departments, including employees in multiple locations.
Responsibilities
• Create a supportive and innovative HR program to enable the team’s broad range of initiatives
• Partner with HR leadership to assess, deliver and facilitate human resources programs, employee communications, management/leadership development, performance management, talent planning, employee relations, compensation and benefits
• Project manage a diverse suite of HR initiatives in support of business objectives
• Provide advice and guidance on organizational design; draft and maintain org charts
• Help drive succession planning and individual development plans with team leaders
• Support the team’s Employee Opinion Survey efforts; help create and drive the resulting action plans
• Provide coaching to management and employees to resolve conflicts, enhance team effectiveness, and ensure support of organizational changes and business plans
• Implement human resources policies and ensure compliance with legal regulations
• Coordinate performance reviews, merit increases, performance/potential matrices and succession planning
• Help to maintain and grow the presence and effectiveness of a solid HR team
• Leverage resources including partnerships with Talent Acquisition and Organizational Development to build and grow teams effectively and efficiently
• As needed, complete administrative tasks for the team you support
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communication, Psychology, related field or equivalent work experience
• 8+ years of progressive experience in human resource generalist roles
• Working knowledge of employee attraction, engagement, and retention strategies and practical application to varied employee segments
• Strong background in Federal and California employment law
• Demonstrated excellence in organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills
• Excellent prioritization and time management skills
• Creative problem solving/process improvement mindset – contribute ideas for making things more efficient and/or higher quality
• Talent for diplomatic, unbiased communication, both written and verbal
• Demonstrated business-based mindset through delivery of human resources services
• Comfortable and experienced presenting to executives
• Ability to excel in an ever-changing environment using an entrepreneurial mindset
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint
• Experience working in gaming, technology, or entertainment industries and creative talent
• Able to split time between offices in Burbank and Irvine
• Other travel as needed, on occasion
Pluses
• PHR or SPHR Certification
• Experience supporting organizations with heavy use of contingent/temporary work force, such as entertainment or event production
• Experience in a start-up environment
• Passion for video games and eSports
• Knowledge of and passion for Blizzard Entertainment games
