Senior Analyst, Digital Strategy
A little bit about our team:
As part of the Digital Strategy & Business Development Group, the Digital Strategy team works directly with the Chief Digital Officer to develop WMG’s strategy for optimizing the monetization of WMG’s core assets across today’s dynamic digital distribution ecosystem and building out the company’s portfolio of complementary businesses. In addition to creating the Group’s Board and senior management presentations, the team is focused on leading and overseeing projects related to industry trends, the Group’s priorities and WMG’s current and potential digital partners. You will work directly with the Group’s Head of Strategy on these presentations and projects, playing a key role in formulating the company’s digital strategy.

Join the team responsible for creating and driving WMG’s digital strategy. You will dive into proprietary and/or third-party data & research and deal-related documentation to understand industry trends and WMG’s deals & relationships with its digital distribution partners. You will compile, analyze and draw actionable conclusions that are integral to charting WMG’s strategy and growing our position in the market. You will work cross-functionally across the Group and WMG to formalize strategic initiatives and identify ways to create more efficient workflow and data sharing. Here you’ll get to:
• Synthesize partner, market and industry data to: (i) create trend, projection, financial, and market sizing analyses and (ii) identify key insights relevant to WMG’s digital strategy
• Partner with the Head of Strategy to utilize visualization and data storytelling skillsets to build compelling, data-driven Board, key senior management and external strategy presentations
• Work on projects that relate to and/or are the foundation of the company’s digital strategy or strategic priorities
• Serve as a consultant across the Group and become involved in ongoing initiatives, presentations or deal-related analyses on an as-needed basis
• Lead tracking of negotiation status with new and current partners via direct contact with deal leads from Business Development and Innovation & Emerging Technologies teams
• Interface closely with the Chief Digital Officer, Partner Analytics & Market Development, Business Development, Innovation & Emerging Technologies, and C-suite during projects and preparation of presentations
Rockstar candidates will have:
Required Competencies and Skills:
• Advanced experience with Excel (e.g., pivot tables, vlookup) and PowerPoint
• Experience with: (i) complex financial modeling; (ii) integrating and analyzing large sets of data to build robust analyses and models; (iii) market sizing analysis; and (iv) aggregating and summarizing third-party research
• A detail-oriented mindset with a passion for digging into data and applying robust analytics
• Ability to communicate clearly and translate data-driven analyses into concise materials and actionable recommendations
• Strong work-ethic and a self-starter with effective organizational skills who proactively seeks out new solutions
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects
• Passion for music and desire to build a career in the industry
Required Education / Experience:
• Bachelor's Degree from a top university
• 2 or more years of experience working full-time in management consulting, investment banking or corporate strategy
It would be music to our ears if you also had:
• Experience with database querying and SQL coding
• A basic understanding of content licensing, subscription and ad-supported based business models, and/or intellectual property
• Familiarity with finance and graphic visualization software (e.g., Tableau, Adobe Illustrator)
• A combination of experience in: (i) management consulting or investment banking and (ii) the music industry
