Description
Tony Matelli Studio located in Long Island City, is seeking an experienced candidate to work 4-5 days a week as an Office Manager and Studio Assistant.
This is a hybrid position and time will be spent 50/50, studio/office. Therefore a sculpture background is essential. Applicants should be highly organized and detail-oriented with strong oral and written communication skills. Candidates must have a demonstrated knowledge of materials and sculptural techniques. The job requires a professional and discreet demeanor, excellent studio, organizational, and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
• Safe and proper handling and packing/unpacking of artwork.
• Maintain database of all artworks and exhibition history.
• Correspond with vendors, fabricators and galleries.
• Bookkeeping/Banking
• Photography and retouching
• Archiving photo data base
• Designing exhibition models
• Maintain website
• Material inventory and management
• Managing time allocation and material expenses
• Cleaning and studio maintenance
• Maintain studio schedule, arrange travel
• Oversight of all packing, shipping, installation notes, and documentation
• Participate directly in the fabrication of art works
Essential Skills and Qualities:
• Strong computer skills such as proficiency in Adobe suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Muse,
Lightroom), Filemaker, Sketch-Up, 3-D a bonus. General MAC proficiency.
General photography skills
• Understanding and proficiency of sculptural processes
• Proficiency with hand tools and power tools
• Ability to absorb, integrate, and act on information quickly
• Great research capabilities
• Remain calm in a stressful environment
