Overview
The Senior Marketing Manager is a strategic and tactical leader in planning and managing marketing activities for key frontlist and select backlist books for W Publishing which prides itself on strong author relationships, award-winning content, and a cohesive team environment. W Publishing’s successes include current New York Times bestsellers Capital Gaines by Chip Gaines as well as past mega-sellers The Magnolia Story, Heaven is For Real, and Same Kind of Different as Me.
This position will lead and develop our digital strategy for W Publishing as well as create and manage comprehensive campaigns for assigned books which includes but is not limited to: marketing positioning, consumer messaging, media planning and buying, social media strategy, live events, budgeting, and ROI analysis for each campaign. In partnership with authors, agents, editors, vendors, retail sales and other team members, the senior marketing manager applies an integrated approach to meet sales goals.
Responsibilities
• Develops, implements and manages comprehensive marketing campaigns of moderate to high complexity for assigned authors, titles and brands
• In partnership with Marketing Director, helps to set and oversee digital strategy for all W projects for both front and backlist titles.
• Presents marketing plans and updates at key meetings with authors, agents, sales teams and company executives.
• Leverages best practices in digital (social media, search, email, etc.) and traditional (advertising, promotion, events) marketing methods to maximize unit sales and revenue.
• Builds reader, influencer and advocate communities via social media and email.
• Participates in the planning and preparation for all sales conferences, as well as presenting the marketing portion of certain titles during the conference.
• Manages budget development and expense projections for assigned campaigns.
• Manages author relationships and ensures clear, effective project management across author and agency team members.
• Manages pre-and-post show event planning for conferences and trade shows. Attends as required.
• Analyzes marketing campaigns and makes recommendations for adjustments and key learnings based on those results.
Qualifications
Knowledge:Expertise in digital marketing and knowledgeable in traditional marketing methods, digital analytics, and best practices. Proficient with MSOffice, project management and marketing management tools such as SilverPop or similar marketing platforms.
Work Experience:5-6+ years of marketing experience, with a concentration in digital marketing (social media, search engine marketing, email marketing, etc.). People management experience a plus.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, advertising or related field required
Industry Knowledge:Knowledge of publishing or other consumer content-related industry preferred (music, entertainment, media, digital content, etc.). Author or Talent management experience a plus.

• High level of professionalism, relationship management, project management, attention to detail, and organization
• Demonstrated experience using email, search engines and social media as a marketing and sales tool
• Familiarity with email and website analytics platforms
• Highly proficient in basic computer applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Comfortable presenting to group
• Some design or copywriting skills preferred
