The Manager, Custom Insights will work with editorial, sales, product and design teams of Condé Nast lifestyle brands to develop high impact research projects. This role will manage primary research projects at the highest level of quality through all phases of development, execution and reporting. This role will report to the Director, Custom Insights and will be joining an engaging and collaborative team dedicated to doing exceptional, meaningful work.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to translate business questions into focused, compelling research solutions that achieve research objectives and deliver actionable results
• Manage the primary research process from conceptualization, methodology and vendor selection, sample plan and execution, data interpretation and presentation
• Execute against multiple methodologies and needs including editorial and site health trackers, (re)branding research, concept tests, usability testing and direct to consumer exploratories
• Ideate new methodologies that take research to the next level, inspiring stakeholders and external partners
• Collaborate closely with the customer & competitive intelligence and digital analytics teams to provide well-rounded insights reporting
• Create strong relationships with stakeholders to establish team as the go-to for all custom research needs
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
• 5-8 years of experience with primary research in a variety of areas including some or all of the following: brand strategy, market sizing, tracking studies, concept testing, copy testing and optimization, product development, user experience testing, sales/marketing positioning, media usage and industry thought leadership
• Experience working with both print and digital media with focus on lifestyle and beauty category interests preferred; research vendor experience a plus.
• Strong competence in both qualitative and quantitative research methods, survey design, programming and implementation, sampling plan development, field procedures, statistical analysis and data cleaning and weighting
• Working knowledge of advanced quantitative analytical methodologies and techniques such as conjoint, discrete choice modeling max-diff exercises, segmentation, etc.
• Experience managing outside vendor-led research initiatives: from crafting RFPs, setting and managing budgets and timelines to refining final reporting deliverables with recommendations.
• Experience with survey programming and data analysis software desired
• Strong client-facing abilities: written and verbal acuity
• Strong problem-solving orientation; curiosity-driven approach to research
• Ability to integrate information from variety of sources (including public domain) to form actionable insights
• Talent for presenting a compelling story and actionable insights with data: strong presentation skills
• Critical thinking, ability to develop innovative solutions
• Must be proactive, collaborative, inquisitive, detail-oriented, and highly organized
