Job Summary
CenturyLink's internship program is a 10 week, fast-paced and exciting opportunity to gain professional experience within your field of study. CenturyLink is currently seeking interns for the Summer 2018 session. Interns within the Product Development and Technology department will be challenged to apply their knowledge gained in the classroom to real world problems. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands on experience working on real world Innovation Initiatives for a Fortune 200 company. This position will allow students to utilize their talents and abilities to innovate on Innovative Products that are tied to active projects at CenturyLink.
Job Description
• Perform hands on development of innovative products.
• Create proof of concepts for new software.
• Drive a series of projects.
• Create and Adhere to a project schedule.
• Perform project management to ensure milestones are met.
• Collect and analyze data.
• Mobile application development
• Attend project meetings, summarize project results and prepare progress reports for the PI and CenturyLink Leadership.
• Prepare and Implement test plans.
• Prepare other articles, reports, and presentations.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or Related Engineering Field from an accredited College or University
• 3.0 or above cumulative GPA.
• Experience programming in JAVA, C++, SQL.
• Academic and/or work experience related to the field of research, as defined by the supervisor/lead researcher.
• Experience with specialized software or datasets, as required by the supervisor.
• Highly motivated, organized, reliable and detail oriented.
• Ability to work without supervision.
• Strong sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines
• Strong listening, written and verbal communication skills
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Make project decisions independently with minimal guidance.
• Professional Attitude.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Agile Methodology Experience.
• Development Experience with mobile applications
Must-Have Qualifications
• Pursing a Bachelor's degree in an IT-related degree program such as CIS or Computer Science
• Currently enrolled full-time at a 4-year accredited College or University
• Will be in a post graduate degree of undergraduate status of at least a Junior at the time of the internship
• 3.0 or above cumulative GPA
• Available to work at least 30 hours per week
• Reliable transportation during the internship
