Publicity Assistant - Berkley
We are seeking a Publicity Assistant to join the Berkley imprint. In this exciting role, you will assist the Publicity Director and Assistant Publicity Director in performing general administrative tasks, fulfilling media requests, and completing book mailings. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about book publicity while working with a wide range of commercial titles, including women’s fiction, mysteries, thrillers, science fiction/fantasy, and more.
Specific responsibilities include:
1. Providing assistance where needed with high profile author tours, publicity campaigns, New York media events, and creating promotional materials.
2. Coordinating mailings, publicity materials, and review copy requests.
3. Seeking publicity opportunities across print, TV, radio, and online media for assigned books, with oversight and support from supervisors.
4. Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with relevant media contacts, including reviewers and bloggers.
5. Working and communicating with authors throughout the publicity campaign, as well as with editors and other in-house employees.
6. Performing general administrative duties in collaboration with other publicity assistants, such as answering phones, taking messages, monitoring office supplies, booking conference rooms, executing mailings, etc.

• Genuine interest in publicity and book publishing
• Strong interest in commercial and genre fiction
• Excellent organizational skills and follow-up ability
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Comfortable asking questions, taking direction, and offering suggestions
• Proven ability to multi-task and shift priorities in a deadline-driven environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Knowledge of social media platforms and an interest in using social media to enhance book campaigns, author awareness, and imprint brand-building preferred
