Summary of Position
• Responsible for creating a sales and prospecting strategy to attain established room night, revenue and/or amount of definite number of events goals as assigned.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
• Manage a pre-selected account portfolio consisting mostly of accounts within their geographical region. These accounts will be assessed by applying predetermined selection criteria on an annual basis. Position will solicit these accounts consisting of personal outside sales calls, site inspections, customer targeted events/initiatives, telephone solicitation and written and oral communication and file maintenance.
• Direct and manage all group sales activities in their respective geographical office to achieve budgeted individual and team room night and revenue goals.
• Participate in monthly sales meetings, sales strategy meetings, pre-convention meetings, training, 1 on 1 bi-weekly meetings, and other sales related meetings, as required.
• Attend trade shows, industry events and meetings determined to impact direct sales to the Hawaii Convention Center.
• Maintain knowledge of market, competition and account prospects to be added to the account portfolio.
• Accountable for established goals which is determined/renewed on an annual basis.
• Work in conjunction with the various programs to create strategies to secure future business
• Work with Sales Admin who is based in HNL and who is assigned to support remotely based Regional Director of Accounts.
• Performs other related duties as may be required or assigned.
Experience Required
• Seven to ten years of progressively responsible experience in sales experience and functions; or any combination of education and experience which would provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to meet the minimum qualifications to perform the essential functions of this position.
• Knowledge of destination and experience in selling a Convention Center. Candidates with experience selling Hawai‘i as destination may be considered first.
Education Required
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a major in business or marketing

• Must have the ability to lift 50 lbs., stand, sit, crouch and bend throughout the course of daily activities.
• Must be organized and efficient with the ability to lead and direct staff.
• Personal and professional initiative, enthusiasm, and dedication to excellence in wide ranging services to the center’s clients and their customers. Ability to establish and maintain a system for assuring high standards of productivity within the department.
• Ability to maintain an on-going list by priority of projects and tasks, to assume timely and effective solutions to unanticipated client focused issues.
• Superior verbal & written communication skills; leadership skills; ability to receive and give instructions; ability to make presentations to company management and clients. Requires the the ability to interface with all levels of employees in all departments.
• Ability to work a varied schedule including weekends and holidays, as required
• Ability to work long hours, while under pressure.
• Ability to adapt and work effectively in various parts of the facility.
• Ability to work in various climates based on the environment.
• Working knowledge of tools and equipment related to managing a multi-purpose and
world-class Convention Center facility.
• Must have a continuous drive and passion for creating an exceptional experience for all guests, employees, and tenants.
• Must have general computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

• Must demonstrate excellent customer service.
