APEX Exchange is a Publicis Groupe division which represents value based media solutions to clients across the Publicis footprint. In today’s fragmented and dynamic media world, new opportunities have arisen to offer clients significant opportunities to derive additional or exceptional value whilst also helping to drive the Publicis commercial agenda. Apex is based in New York, with a global offering to our client base and media partners across 20 markets and growing.
Job Description
Apex is active across all media types, with a significant portion of our business delivering value in video, both national and local; linear and digital; traditional and future-facing. This newly created position brings under leadership our efforts and teams within the broader video landscape
Overall, the APEX Video Director will lead the market-facing and internal drive expand our video practice across all available current channels, plus the evolving video marketplace. These responsibilities will fall into four distinct categories:
1. Oversee teams dedicated across all video, including execution of video buying
2. Construct, driver and manage partnership deals with media owners
3. Expand into emerging video tactics to build unique Apex product
4. Close collaboration with Apex Content Ventures, bringing together programme finance and media trading
The Video Director will work alongside Apex discipline leads including local activation, digital, operations, content, sales, marketing and finance.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Manage team of 20+ video activation specialists across local, national, DRTV
• Drive executional integrity of all video buying performed by Apex, including an emphasis on operations to maintain and bolster efficiencies across various video buying segments
• Working with media vendors to identify opportunities for an APEX deals to be created
• Negotiating the specific arrangements with vendors and partners that will form the basis of the transaction
• Developing a clear understanding of the legal framework and accounting treatment for such deals and the general operational principles of Apex within the Publicis network.
• Direct liaison with agency planners and buyers to explain the Apex product mechanics and client benefits
• Creating custom product offerings within video landscape that will be marketed and sold as unique to Apex
• Own strategy for adding tactics into the Apex portfolio including addressable TV, connected TV, advanced T
• Overarching sales responsibility for video inventory to be utilized across Publicis client base
• Senior leadership role within the Apex organization with a mind-set toward overall business growth
• Marketplace face of Apex video
Qualifications
• 15+ years of experience working at a media agency or media sales organization, negotiating all TV dayparts, online video, DRTV
• 12+ years of progressively responsible positions managing staff, with proven track record of successful leadership and mentoring
• Highly developed negotiation skills and the ability to drive for marginal gains in an ultra-competitive environment
• Possession of highly developed inter-personal skills that will enable the candidate to sell value based solutions to Agencies, Vendors and Clients.
• Be capable of commercial development while having to operate in a collaborative fashion across multiple stakeholders.
