Responsibilities
Essential Responsibilities: The fiction intern will integrate with the HCCP fiction team, both on the editorial and marketing sides—and will gain a broad exposure to the publishing process as well as providing support to the team.
The intern will:
• Attend team meetings, including but not limited to Acquisitions, Titling, Staff, Pub Boards, Production, Packaging, Editorial, Marketing, and Sales Conference
• Review proposals for possible acquisitions and provide feedback to the acquiring editors.
• Gain a working knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style and our house style guide.
• Shadow editors in reviewing proofreading marks.
• Review and edit back cover copy; write copy.
• Help to implement promotional campaigns
• Help gather author input for PR pitches
• Learn to manage Librarian and Reviewer requests through NetGalley
• Help manage the creation & distribution of ARCs to reviewers, media, authors, and sales
• Facilitate content to the Fiction Guild (‘street team’)
• Proof marketing collateral pieces including press releases, ads, and other copy
• Coordinate printing and distribution of marketing materials
• Contribute to tracking publicity execution with external agencies and ROI
• Research marketing trends
• Assist in mailings
• Some clerical work (e.g. photocopying, printing and binding manuscripts, filing, email, note taking, etc)
Qualifications
Must be a Fall 2018 College Junior, Senior, or Graduate Student

• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)

Industry Knowledge:Candidates should have a passionate interest in the publishing interest, with a specific passion for fiction preferred. General understanding of the Christian market is a plus, but not required.
